Fantasy Film “Along With The Gods” Hits 2 Million Ticket Sales On 4th Screening Day
On its opening week, year-end fantasy film Along With The Gods has been slaying South Korean box office, raking in over 2 million tickets after four days.
Along With The Gods is breaking box office records after surpassing 2 million admission sales from the latest accumulated data of Korean Film Council. The fantasy-adventure movie erased best records of December Box Office Hits Master (2016), Ode to my Father (2014) and The Attorney (2013).
The 40-billion won fantasy-adventure film is set to be released in two parts, with the second part slated for summer screening.
Along With The Gods is based on a webtoon about a salary man who died, and is accompanied to the underworld by afterlife guardians. The film adaptation takes the story of a firefighter who passed away unexpectedly. He is escorted by three grim reapers, who defend him in 49 days on 7 trials that would determine if he is able to reincarnate.
Popular A-list actors Ha Jung Woo (The Tunnel), Cha Tae Hyun (The Best Hit), Joo Ji Hoon (Asura) and child actress Kim Hyang Gi (Snowy Road) lead the first installment of the film.
The star-studded movie taps active parts for actors Do Kyung Soo (My Annoying Brother), Kim Su An (Battleship Island), Ma Dong Seok (Train To Busan), Oh Dal Soo (Memoirs of a Murder), Lee Jun Hyuk (Secret Forest) and Kim Dong Wook (Radiant Office). In addition, actress Kim Ha Neul (On The Way To The Airport) is expected to do a cameo role.
Along With The Gods is currently screening nationwide in South Korea. It has been sold to 12 Asian countries, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, the Philippines, Cambodia and Laos at Asian Film Market. It was also pre-sold to 90 nations at American Film Market last month.
