Bang Si Hyuk Named One Of Billboard’s Top Innovators; “It’s A Collaborative Process” With BTS
Today, we shine the spotlight on the man behind BTS’ music.
Billboard recently released “Meet Music’s New Power Generation: Top 25 Innovators“, a list that recognizes talented producers, managers, and artists in the music industry.
This year, Billboard included Bang Si Hyuk, the producer and CEO of BigHit Entertainment.
Bang Si Hyuk is cited for his work with BTS, who rocketed to fame in the past few years. The group earned a Top 10 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart with their hit, “Fake Love.” Their albums, Love Yourself: Tear and Love Yourself: Answer, have also topped the Billboard 200 in June and September respectively.
In terms of live performances, BTS was also known as the first Korean act to hold a stadium show at New York’s Citi Field Stadium. The group subsequently became the first Korean act to sell out the 42,000-capacity stadium, a feat they achieved in under an hour.
Billboard also cited BTS’ strong social media presence, as the group has remained on top of the Social 50 charts for 111 weeks— and counting. Their influence continues to goes beyond the online space, as the group was also earlier featured on Time Magazine‘s “Next Generation Leaders” list.
When asked about his strategy on producing a global pop group like BTS, Bang Si Hyuk insisted there is none.
“It’s a collaborative process,” he said.
“I promised the members from the very beginning that BTS’ music must come from their own stories.”
