BTS goes for not just one, but five huge categories for the 2019 MTV VMA!

BTS has been nominated for a whopping total of five categories at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards!

First is the controversial new category Best K-Pop which many fans of the genre had expressed dismay for. BLACKPINK with “Kill This Love”, MONSTA X featuring French Montana with “Who Do U Love?”, NCT 127 with “Regular”, and
EXO with “Tempo” are competing against BTS’ “Boy With Luv” for the category.

The group’s labelmates TOMORROW X TOGETHER also face up against them as the only rookies on the list with “Cat & Dog”.

Their team-up with Halsey for “Boy With Luv” also earned them a spot as nominees for Best Collaboration. They face against Lil Nas X ft. Billy Ray Cyrus  for “Old Town Road (Remix)”, and Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper for “Shallow”.

Vying for the title as well are Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello for “Señorita”, Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco for “ME!”, and Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber for “I Don’t Care”.

The same song and music video had given the group a place at the list of nominees for Best Choreography and Best Art Direction as well.

Lastly, they are nominated for the Best Group category where they face against huge boy groups like 5 Seconds of Summer, The Backstreet Boys, The Jonas Brothers, CNCO, Pretty Much, and Why Don’t We.

Additionally, BTS is up against fellow K-Pop artists BLACKPINK as well, who is the only female group nominated in the category.
