BTS’ Jimin’s “Like Crazy” Is RIAA Certified Platinum
Jimin of the group BTS achieved a new feat for his song “Like Crazy”!
According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on December 1, Jimin’s first solo album title song “Like Crazy” sold more than 1 million units and was certified platinum.
RIAA awards certifications are based on digital single and album sales by dividing them into Gold (500,000 units or more), Platinum (1 million units or more), Multi-Platinum (2 million units or more), and Diamond (10 million units or more). Unit counting is done by giving weight to album (physical/digital) sales, digital downloads, audio and video streaming, etc.
Jimin created a huge stir around the world by setting the record as the first K-pop solo singer with his first solo album FACE. He entered the US Billboard main song chart Hot 100 (as of April 8) with the title song “Like Crazy” and immediately reached the top spot.
Additionally, FACE sold more than 1 million copies on the Hanteo Chart on the first day of release, becoming the first K-pop solo artist album to become a million-seller on the first day of release.
“Like Crazy” ranked 3rd in the Global Top K-Pop Songs of the Year category in the 2023 Wrapped year-end campaign announced by Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform.
It also ranked 3rd on Billboard’s latest chart (December as of the 2nd), it remains very popular, ranking 59th globally (excluding the US) and 109th in the Global 200 for 35 consecutive weeks.
