Congratulations, BTS!

Worldwide K-pop sensation BTS took home not just one but two awards at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards Japan (2021 MTV VMAJ).

On October 29,  the 2021 MTV VMAJ announced the winners through its official website. BTS won the Best Group Video for their smash hit single “Butter” this year. The septet also bagged the Best Collaboration Video for the song “My Universe,” which they collaborated with Coldplay. Both awards are in the international category.

This is not the first time BTS has earned an award at the MTV VMAJ. Previously, the boy group received the Best Group Video award in 2020 and 2018 for their “Dynamite” and “Fake Love” music videos, respectively. In 2019, they also won the Best Buzz award.

In total, BTS already raked in five trophies from the award-giving body in four years. Notably, this year is extra special as it is their first time to win two awards.

The 2021 MTV VMAJ selected the best works in 18 categories for music videos released from October 1, 2020, to September 30, 2021. The special award music video will be broadcast on November 3 at 9 pm. Meanwhile, the awards ceremony will be held live on November 25 and will be aired on December 18 at 7 PM through MTV JAPAN.

MTV VMAJ is the Japanese version of MTV VMA, the largest music awards ceremony in the United States, and has been held annually since 2002.
