iKON Leaves YG Entertainment + To Continue Activities As A Group
All the best in your next chapter, iKON!
Well-loved K-pop male act iKON has decided to leave YG Entertainment together as a group.
Just recently, YG Entertainment announced that the six-member group will be officially parting ways with them. “After long discussions with the iKON members (Kim Jin Hwan, BOBBY, Song Yunhyeong, Koo Jun Hoe, Kim Dong Hyuk, and Jung Chan Woo) about future activities, we respect each other’s opinions and terminate the exclusive contract according to the expiration of the contract period. We have agreed to end it,” the agency said.
Reassuring fans that iKON will continue to be together as a group, the agency said, “The six members of iKON will of course be continuing their activities as the group ‘iKON’ in the future, and we are also letting you know that they will continue to communicate with iKONIC (iKON’s fans) through their official social media accounts, including their official fan community Weverse, just as they are now.”
In addition, the agency recognized the group’s hard work and wished them well for their next chapter. “We sincerely thank iKON, who has been with us as one of our agency’s artists up until now. We are looking forward to their future activities in a wide variety of fields, and we will be cheering them on. Additionally, we also thank the iKONIC who were together with us for iKON’s journey. We ask that you continue to give the members your unchanging interest and encouragement as they prepare for a new start,” they added.
In 2013, iKON made their name known by participating in Mnet’s idol debut survival program Win: Who is the Next? as Team B, and made their official debut in September 2015. At the time of their debut, they were a 7-member group, but in 2019, leader B.I left the team and reorganized it into a 6-member group.
