IU and Byeon Woo Seok to Star in Disney+ Korean Series ‘Perfect Crown’ in 2026
Disney+ has announced a new Korean series, Perfect Crown, set to premiere exclusively in 2026, starring IU and Byeon Wooseok.
The series, revealed at the Disney+ Originals Preview held at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort on November 13, is a romantic comedy set in a modern-day Korea operating under a constitutional monarchy.
The story follows Grand Prince Wan, played by Byeon Wooseok, as he navigates a royal power struggle while under pressure to marry. To advance their own agendas, the prince enters a marriage of convenience with Heeju, portrayed by IU, the heir to one of Korea’s largest conglomerates, but their plans quickly become complicated by unexpected emotions and challenges.
Previously titled Wife of a 21st Century Grand Prince, Perfect Crown is directed by Park Joonhwa, known for Alchemy of Souls and What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim, and written by Yu Ain. IU, recognized for her performances in When Life Gives You Tangerines and My Mister, brings depth to the role of Heeju, while Byeon Wooseok, known for Lovely Runner and Strong Girl Nam-soon, embodies the charming yet conflicted Grand Prince Wan.
The Disney+ Originals Preview highlighted the company’s expanding slate of Korean, Japanese, and global series for 2026 and beyond, emphasizing bold storytelling and collaborations with top creative talent. Perfect Crown is among the highly anticipated projects that reflect Disney+’s commitment to delivering innovative and award-winning content for audiences worldwide.
Further details about Perfect Crown are expected to be released in the coming months as production progresses toward its 2026 debut.
