K-pop Idols To Join Forces For Unification Song

If you think an EXO-BTS-GOT7-Red Velvet collaboration could only exist in your dreams, you might want to think again!

The dream collaboration will sort of become possible as members of several K-pop groups come together to form a powerhouse group for the newest Korean unification song.

EXO’s Baekhyun, BTS’ Jungkook, GOT7’s Youngjae, Red Velvet’s Wendy, Girls’ Day’s Minah, and former SISTAR member Soyou have been confirmed by One K Global Campaign committee as some of the participating artists for the track.

On April 29, the organizing committee of the campaign announced a brand new unification song in the works, and counts the participation of around 20 K-pop idols. According to them, the song will be made by composer Kim Hyung-suk, who is also the current director general of One K Global Campaign.

One K Global Campaign sets to encourage the unification of the Korean peninsula and to attract the support and participation of the people by coming together.

In 2015, they came up with the song “One Dream, One Korea” which listed the participation of and was recorded by the same artists. “One Dream, One Korea” conveys a message of peace by overcoming difficulties and starting new beginnings.

Another track was produced by One K Global Campaign committee in 2017 with the title “Korean Dream”. The song featured domestic and overseas musicians like Dami Im, Jung Dongha, Peabo Bryson, and VOISPER, among others. Both songs called for achieving peace and unification for North and South Korea.

On April 27, “One Dream, One Korea” was played at the finale of the historic North and South Korean summit. The song is getting attention once more in light of the two Koreas agreeing to end their war after 65 years.

To commemorate this historic moment, the new song will be released by the One K Global Campaign committee in August.

In addition to the track, other artistic productions such as One K Music Festival and a unification documentary film are also in the works.
