Actor Kim Bum To Start His Military Service On April 26
We have another “see you again” moment before the month ends as actor Kim Bum is set to fulfill his military conscription through alternative military service on April 26.
Kingkong Entertainment, Kim Bum’s agency, announced on April 12 that the actor will work in the public office as a social worker because of his health condition.
Kim Bum was diagnosed in his early 20’s with a hereditary illness, degenerative arthritis, which requires constant medical attention. The actor has been trying to fight it off through medication and exercise, but the evaluators deemed he is unfit for active military duty.
The actor is known to have close friendship with fellow actors Lee Min Ho and Jung Il Woo. The two are also serving their national obligation as public office workers because of health reasons.
Kim Bum rose to mainstream success as one of the rich boys of the popular KBS youth romantic comedy, Boys Over Flowers, an adaptation of a famous Japanese manga.
He has notable performances in dramas Padam Padam, Goddess of Fire, Hidden Identity and Mrs. Cop 2. He recently portrayed a sword fighter role in film Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead.
In March 2018, he confirmed his relationship with actress Oh Yeon Seo whom he met through a common acquaintance.
