Korean netizens have labelled Kim Hyun Joong a ‘psychopath’ after photo evidence of him physical assaulting his ex-girlfriend surfaced online.

On an article on Naver reporting about the actor/singer ‘secretly’ leaving for a Chinese concert, netizens asked Kim to leave Korea forever.

One top comment said: “I can’t believe he’s still looking to make money. I hope he gets egged on stage.”

While others said:

“Just cancel your tour, get investigated, pay the price of your crime, and live your life quietly at the army… That is your solution.”

“Just leave Korea for good tsk tsk”

“The pictures of her bruises shocked me… And they were only pictures of her needing two weeks of treatment;;; Imagine when she needed six weeks, how much more worse it was… Talk about a psychopath, especially with the way he talked about being worried during action scenes in case he hurt the other person”

“Kim Hyun Joong and his agency can’t be in the right state of mind going through with this tour instead of getting investigated right away”

“He’s gotta go make his settlement money somehow”

“Nowadays, you don’t need to apologize for drugs, military scandals, or assault. Just keep em coming”

“You can beat a woman or do all the drugs you want, talk about celebrities being a dream job for real”

On August 22, reports of Kim Hyun Joong physically assaulting and fracturing his ex-girlfriend’s ribs shocked the K-pop world. His agency later confirmed that the pair were in a relationship for a few months only.

Korean media Dispatch later dispelled the statement made by Key East Entertainment and released evidence of them dating from two years ago. Pictures of his ex-girlfriend’s bruises later surfaced during the week, which further raised concern of the reports being true.

Taking all the recent facts into consideration, I kinda believe that when it comes to entertainment industry issues, Koreans might be a bit dumb… Isn’t it obvious ?.. it’s a classic practice…. Ex-girlfriend gets mad cuz she’s “Ex”; files a domestic violence case & says she’s pregnant,… Kim however unlike most other people who’ve been in this position; understands the vengeful motive of his ex, decides to take responsibility of the child & pays her to stop all the bad publicity which had already started taking toll on his reputation & public image…. After taking the money, his ex again files a suit that there’s been a miscarriage & guess what : the reason again is Kim !! Funnily enough she has not been able to turn in any evidence that there was a miscarriage or that she was actually even pregnant ! How is that not super fishy ?! This whole thing is a scam of a gold digger who was probably not even pregnant to start with …. & this is not the first time such an occurrence has happened in this world. This woman has set her mind to take away whatever that can possibly be gained from this situation… & in the process has completely ruined him….. Koreans are letting that happen to him !!! WTF, people ?!!

Another one of Dispatch controversial works to grill another star and how did they get their information? Did the girl go to them or did they look for this girl? Dispatch admits to working with sasaengs.

There are still so many stones left unturned.

I know Kim Hyun Joong as one Hallyu star who just recently concluded a very good drama entitled “Inspiring Generation” and one of his best works so far and is now on his world tour. Known for his humility and bashfulness, generosity towards everyone, funny and weird comments often said as “4dness” and versatility. He was ridiculed for his singing and acting ability.Did he prove his detractors wrong? You be the judge, this will depend on your taste and preference.

Other than what I read about him, I know nothing of who he really is so I will avoid judging him. We also know nothing of this girl, Why is she hiding? Who is this girl? Where did she come from? If she is another celebrity I would be less doubtful. Who introduced her? Was she meant to be in a relationship with Kim Hyun Joong or is this planned from the beginning?

In one of their previous works Dispatch claimed to be in contact with sasaengs. There are elements in this news which are so sasaeng like…There are words that feel too familiar, saying that “there is no justification for the assault” just like most people here who have made judgement.I gather some of you will be saying because he is friends with JYJ that birds of the same feather flock together…than this would be also another judgement. And another familiar word here is…”habitual”…Dispatch manipulate words to give a different meaning and translators do the same since most international fans hardly understand Korean.

At the end of the article is a statement talking about their next victim. So I believe we are just talking about him.

This feels very creepy, so why should I believe this news on Kim Hyun Joong now?

    A write-up and a source link follows.

Siding with Paparazzi? Lawsuit, Lawsuits, Many Lawsuits.

As anyone has expected, there are quite many lawsuits filed against Dispatch’s overzealous journalists. Two most notable cases involved : 1) Release of audio files of JYJ Jae-joong’s assault (both physical and verbal) on his Saesaeng fans. 2) Publishing photos of co-chairman of ShinSegae (nation’s major chaebol family and himself notorious for having divorced top actress Go Hyun-jung) with his fiancee planning a wedding.
There has been quite a controversy going on around Jae-joong’s case as it got murkier as some idol stars revealed via talk shows that how creepy (actually much more than what people usually call creepy), anti-social and sociopathic the Sasaeng fans are: they hire a cab for the entire day to follow their stars (which often result in a car accident), hack into their cell phone to monitor their phone calls, and of course hack their email/social network accounts, even to the point their behaviors can clearly be understood as organized crime (link to local article [ko]): they install security cameras in front of the stars’ house and GPS in their cars, and share information together. (There is even a Wiki page on how crazy these girls (mostly teenage girls) are, though I am not sure whether they should let them use the word ‘fans’)

Using Sasaeng Fans as Their Source?

Dispatch got hold of Jaejoong’s audio files by contacting one of these Sasaeng fans (there is Youtube link where you can listen to the content- Jaejoong ranting and cursing at the Sasaeng fangirls, using some expletives equivalent to F bombs and the C word and very clear slapping/hitting sound). Dispatch were one of few media outlets who had the nerve to say that ‘although Saseang fans’ behavior is problematic, of course, it doesnt justify Jaejoong’s assault”. I found it interesting how Dispatch journalist explains about this and translated a bit of their article:
“We’ve contacted around 20 of the so-called ‘Sasaeng fans” and the reason we disclosed these ‘audio files’ is because we’ve noticed that his assault (violent behavior) to be ‘habitual’. According to the audio file, Kim Jae-joong himself admitted ‘I’ve beaten people quite often and went to police (station) for that”. Regardless how much JYJ tries to differentiate ‘fans’ and ‘Sasaeng fans’ there is no justification for the assault. (indirect translation + bit of trimming down)
There are rumors online on who is be next victim of Dispatch; some claiming that there will soon be a mass-outing of gay idol stars. But Dispatch denied such claim via their official Twitter account.

you can’t judge him yet. he is innocent unless proven guilty… you dont call names on people you dont personally know..thats basically being a psychopath in a way… you guys cant hold your tongue, bite it if you must to stop your big mouth from talking nonsense

    September 4, 2014 at 1:20 pm

In my country we have a presumption of innocence of a crime until proven guilty. A trial proves or disproves guilt, not an accusation.
IF he is found guilty of this crime, he should be punished by imprisonment, not a settlement and time in the army. IF he is innocent then people need to wait until the trial and see what they judgment is based on the evidence.
People are far too eager to sit in judgment when they don’t have all the facts at their disposal. Try the man and let justice decide his innocence or guilt, NOT the KNetz.

LOL You do realize you just supported the alleged victim’s side by saying “i fight with my brother everyday (siblings fight ) and i never get bruises like that”? Because you basically admit that what Kim Hyun Jung did to the alleged victim was more than playful roughhousing.
And as for your fist sentence: How are the odds that a hospital record gets falsified and that an alleged women beater is in fact a women beater? What do you think? Hmm?

    September 3, 2014 at 7:18 pm

Really,I have to wonder about your level of intelligence or do you just enjoy sprouting random accusations at people? Where does it say that Park Shi Hoo was set up? Give me evidence for that.Park Shi Hoo settled with the alleged victim out of court before the prosecutor made the decision whether or not to bring the case before the court. This settlement doesn’t make him innocent or guilty, it just means he didn’t have the balls to go the whole way with the investigation.
Get your facts straight before you open your mouth.

Usually when someone is investigating you your not supposed to say anything. Probay something his lawyer told him to do. Even if hes guilty or innocent he is supposed to say quiet so he doesnt say anything incriminating about himself. Im not 100% how the law works but sometimes staying quiet is better because what you say can be used against you guilty or not guilty. To be honest its worse that hes an ido

현 중 위해 기도 하시기 바랍니다 Please PRAY for Kim Hyun Joong. He must be going
through a very tough time right now. He is constantly in the public eye!
Every move he makes is watched, caught on tape, published. Everyone
seems to have an opinion of what he should
or shouldn’t do, according to their perception of what they see as
reality. To currently be publicly accused, criticized, & condemned ~must be extremely stressful on him. And then on top of all
that pressure, to have to perform and cheerfully, positively entertain
all the people who bought tickets to his events right now must be
extremely difficult. He has tried so hard to please his fans and the
public. He gives 100%+ to us every time in his acting and singing. He is a valuable
human being, who has blessed our lives with his talents and gifts. His
contagious laugh and that sparkle in his eye is sincere. Kim Hyun Joong
deserves our prayers, support, love & encouragement at this time.
Send light & love & positive energy to him and all those
involved in this troublesome time. Stay out of judgment ~ no matter the
    outcome…!
    John
8:7 “So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said
unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone
at her.” (Or in this case, “him”.)

I have been reading all these news from last week and its really heartbreaking. I am no one to judge KHJ / his GF as I have not seen it .

If this incident turns out to be true then I feel sorry for both of them- for her cause she had to endure it and lost the respect for him in her eyes.

    – For KHJ cause, he has lost a beautiful relationship just because of uncontrolled emotions.

But this would be a learning phase for both of them as the girl should learn to be more strong and for KHJ, this incident will change him as a person and make him a better human being tomorrow.

But during this period, we .. his so called fans / anti fans should not condemn him, as we have no rights to do it. Instead we should pray for these two people to overcome this sad time. People who called him psychopath should stop judging him.

Someone even went on to say “how can he be forgiven and forgotten”. My brother, didn’t Lord Jesus Christ forgive our sins when he died on the cross and say that our sins will not be remembered anymore.

Are we bigger and greater than the Lord himself and not forgive someone for his wrong doings?

Who are we to condemn someone when our own life is not sinless! The hypocrisy of this world annoys us. Instead for accusing someone of being guilty, lets pray for their souls and Lord’s mercies to enter their lives and heal their wounds.

So much time is wasted in looking at specks in other’s eyes that we forget our own eyes are blurry coz of dust.

Is he showing signs of and giving sincere apologies? How are we supposed to forgive him if he’s being dead quiet about him, letting his representative and company do all the job for him? If forgiving was so easy, everyone would be happy in the world. The problem is, you may forgive but that doesn’t stop him and suddenly become a 100% amazing guy. It’s not really up to us to forgive him, it’s the girlfriend. I used to be a big fan of his as he started hitting up lots of dramas years ago but I’ve been a shock as soon I saw the news and evidences. As a fan from long ago, I’m really disappointed.. 🙁 and it’s more like his idol status that lets him get special treatments, if he wasn’t a celebrity, he’d be in court right now, facing charges.

I am not saying “Bravo” to him for what he did ( If he really did it, still don’t know the whole story. ….!!!!!!), if what we read is really true, he should admit it and accept the punishment! And what’s wrong if he could come back and continue his work! !!! Can’t we forgive! We’re only human, no one’s perfect and we all make mistakes. … or is it because he is an idol he won’t be forgiven?

You may enjoy his performances but can you really enjoy his true character? It’s all fake in TV. You guys ARE being delulu fans if you’re shielding him because of VIOLENCE HE DID. That is not a forgivable act, because he’s been using violence for 2 years. 2 YEARS and has kept it a secret. That is like you fans accepting violence. It’s a bit pathetic.. please wake up.

how could someone who knows nothing could called others a ‘psychopath”…..these korean people are really bad asking someone to leave country as if its only their place and as if they are pure and good ,,,,and its seems in korea whoever does a crime has to leave country and i don’t think all korean are good.,,,even some people might have fault…..and as for khj’s gf if she was beaten up then she could have report it soon(or she could have got beaten cause she might be cheating on him …who knows) …why now when he is already loved and like by all over world,,seems she want his carrier to go down cause she can’t be the one. and for me even if she was beaten up i will support kim hyun joong cause i like him more ,,,,khj fighting and give a damn to those who is against u.

When anti KHJ people argue that the injuries and bruises on the photographs have been certified at the hospital, I keep a neutral mind. I can’t help but remember some of the Kdramas in which DNA results have been manipulated and I keep wondering if this sort of thing could also happen in reality? Anyway, I don’t want to assume anything or accuse either party and will just wait for the official outcome.

all i can say…. is Koreans are quick to turn on their idols…remember how Park Shi Hoo was set up… normal people know what the deal it… and the deal involves A wanting money. she was getting dumped and she was not going to walk away from this relationship empty handed.

  25. Teleri

    September 1, 2014 at 1:44 pm

I do believe there’s confusion over the two terms – but they both reference a lack of empathy. I’ll take your expertise since that’s your field of study currently.

  26. Bunny

    September 1, 2014 at 1:36 pm

Actually sociopath and psychopath are two different things. I take psychology but I think the difference is that psychopaths are actually BORN without the mental capacity to empathise with others. Sociopaths are influenced by their environments and the people around them.

  27. Teleri

    September 1, 2014 at 12:47 pm

Abusers are not necessarily sociopaths, nor are sociopaths necessarily physically abusive. I was married to one that preferred emotional abuse (oh lucky me…). Even serial abusers don’t necessarily have to be sociopaths. A sociopath (or psychopath) does not have any empathy – only feels for him/her self. It is much more than selfishness – these people lack something that normal people have. He might be one – his reaction to these accusations (not the little blurb KE gave) will be telling.
I went and Googled Chris Brown (cause it seemed relevent) and found a darkly humorous interview he gave the Guardian. Mr. Brown did not realize what he was revealing about himself but OMG. He seems to be sociopathic.
So, KHJ could have just gotten into an argument w/his girlfriend as he said, could have serious anger management issues, could be a sociopath – we don’t know if he’s a serial abuser at this point since this girl left almost right away and there have never been any other complaints that anyone knows about. In fact we can’t exactly be sure of much except there was at least one violent argument, she was his girlfriend and she got hurt, most likely in this argument.
There will be more to come, so all his fans need to brace themselves. For the sake of his family, friends and fans, I truly hope he only lost it once or twice (depending on which statement to believe) and that he can get counseling in anger management. I’m sure he’ll apologize but we (netizens) won’t really be able to accurately judge the sincerity. His actions will speak much louder – and I do believe that his actions in the past do not point to him being a violent person, nor a sociopath.
People in general need to understand that no matter how angry and hurt they get, they should NOT get physical. Just walk away.

This pisses me off don’t be talking crap when you don’t know the whole story. Everyone needs to shut up until all the evidence is all there. People don’t realize if this isn’t true how his career is going to be. If it is then he needs to be punished by the law but please stop judging him until they have all the proof and his side of the story.

Why don’t we just throw him in jail? What’s the investigation for ?

It’s beyond believe and incredible that Korean will try to destroy one of their own who work the hardest to promote his own country and did so many good things but keep them quite, who never has any scandal for the past 10 years and suddenly whole bunch mobs decided they don’t need “AUTHENTICATED” evidence to nail him on the cross ?
