“Parasite” Nominated In 6 Oscar Award Categories
South Korea’s monster hit film Parasite, decks six Oscar mominations including Best Picture
Marking another amazing feat, Korean film Parasite by Bong Joon Ho, continues to gather accolades. This time, it received six nominations from the 92nd Academy Awards.
The nominations include Best Picture, Screenplay, Directing, Film Editing, Production Design, and International Film.
Parasite is the first Korean film to be nominated for the Best Picture. Additionally, Bong Joon Ho is the first Korean director to be nominated for an Oscar. Korean film enthusiasts will find out if the movie will score yet another Best Picture award at the 92nd Academy Awards on February 9, 2020.

Parasites’ Immense Success
Grabbing the first-ever Oscar Best Picture nomination for a Korean film, the 2019 Palme d’Or awardee, adds it to its list of milestones. On January 13th, the film snagged two awards at the 25th Critics’ Choice Awards.
The Critic’s Choice awarded the film as the Best Foreign Language Film.

Director Bong Jong Ho won Best Director in a tie with Sam Mendes for 1917.

The film soared high because of its brilliance and popularity. On January 11, Parasite received four awards out of 8 nominations from the Georgia Film Critics Association. The film took home Best Picture, Best Director for Bong Joon Ho, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Foreign Language Film.
Just last year, it already won the Best Picture For Foreign Language Film at the 77th Golden Globes Awards. It also took several recognitions from Chicago’s Film Critics. Parasite won Best Picture, Best Foreign Language Film, and Best Original Screenplay. Bong Joon Ho won too as he was awarded as the Best Director.
Another set of awards the film, Parasite, received were from the film critics association in Los Angeles. The movie took home 3 awards, Best Film, Best Director for Bong Joon Ho, and Best Supporting Actor for Song Kang Ho.
Parasite has changed the course of Korean films. It has further opened the doorway for people to appreciate non-English films.
