SG BLINKs! Gear up  as we count the days to BLACKPINK’s first solo concert In Singapore.

In a few days, Singapore BLINKs  will experience a night full of swag from the hottest Korean girl group today.

The highest charting all-female group, will electrify Singapore Indoor Stadium on February 15.

Before you meet the divas of K-Pop, let us look back to where the girls started and what made them a big name in the industry.

BLACKPINK’s Beginning

From teaser images, participation in various songs and advertisements, the final line up of YG’s newest girl group was revealed in 2016.

Six years after 2NE1, also a powerful girl group under the same label, comes the newest batch of  four young ladies that made a major breakthrough in the industry.

They are collectively called — BLACKPINK.

On Aug 8 2016, the sassy girl group unveiled their debut single album, Square One, featuring their two chart topping singles , “Whistle” and “Boombayah”.


At that time, BLACKPINK was the fastest Korean girl group to rank on Billboard Charts and the third Korean artist to peak at number 1 and number 2 spots, following PSY and BIGBANG.

BLACKPINK Milestones

The track “Whistle” landed them their first number song in South Korea and their music video reached almost 10 million views in just five days.

Meanwhile, “Boombayah” is their first number one song in Billboard’s World Digital Songs chart and the most viewed debut music music video by a South Korean Act.

Additionally, the music video of “Boombayah” marked 100 Million views on January 31, 2017. A year later, YouTube awarded the video as the most watched debut MV by a K-Pop group.

Following their music launch, Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé made an impressive performance  debut on Inkigayo on August 14.  They won  first place only after 13 days since their debut and broke the record as fastest girl group to win on a music program.

Moving on to their second maxi-single,  Square Two, the group launched another two power singles “Playing With Fire” and  “Stay”.

The track “Playing With Fire” peaked at number three spot in South Korea and their second single to hit the top spot in Billboard World Digital Songs Chart.

Just within five months since their debut, BLACKPINK won various rookie awards from Asia Artist Awards, Melon Music Awards, Golden Disc Awards, Seoul Music Awards and Gaon Muisc Awards.

Billboard also named them as the new K-Pop group of 2016.

Blackpink Still Soaring High

BLACKPINK still remain undisputed with the release of their first extended play, Square Up which showcased their massive hit “Ddu Du Ddu Du”.

Square UP is what made them the highest charting all-female K-Pop group in US Billboard 200 peaking at 40th spot.

Their track “Ddu Du Ddu Du” is the most watched music video by a K-Pop group.
