SNSD’s Sunny Tests Positive For COVID-19

Now is the time to deliver your well-wishes to one of your favorite idols, SONEs. Member Sunny has recently tested positive for COVID-19 and is now in quarantine. 

SM Entertainment recently made an important announcement regarding the current health status of one of its talented and well-rounded artists, SNSD’s Sunny.


In the afternoon of August 24, the agency released an official statement saying that the lovely idol has contracted the COVID-19 virus. 

SM Entertainment did not provide any specific details as to how Sunny got the virus but they gave an update regarding what precautionary measures they have been currently taking.

The agency shared that the artist felt abnormal symptoms the day before (August 23). She took a self-test kit for confirmation and it came back positive. 

In consideration of the people she came in close contact with, Sunny has immediately halted her scheduled activities and is self-isolation while receiving treatment at home, in accordance with the guidelines set by the South Korean disease control authorities.

“We will continue to thoroughly comply with disease control guidelines, and with the artist’s health and safety as the top priorities, we will do our best in order for them to be able to focus on their treatment and recovery,” the agency concluded.


Soon after the news came out, SONEs from all over the world immediately sent their well-wishes words of comfort to their beloved idol. Sunny took over Twitter’s Trending list, along with the hashtag “GetWellSoonSunny.”

Meanwhile, Girls Generation made their highly-awaited comeback on August 5 with their chart-topping and record-breaking seventh studio album Forever 1, and its lead single of the same name. Proving its commercial success, Forever 1 debuted at number 18 on the Billboard Japan Hot Albums chart and number four on Oricon Digital Albums chart.
