TVXQ Joins BoA As Foreign Act With Most Number One On Japan’s Oricon Chart
South Korean boy group TVXQ continued its reign on Japan’s Oricon chart with its ninth Japanese studio album, Tomorrow.
The album, released on September 19, was placed first on the weekly album chart for the week of September 17 to 23.
The feat secured Yunho and Changmin’s seventh No.1 on Oricon chart, breaking the record they previously set for a foreign male artist. Moreover, their most recent No.1 puts them at the same position as fellow SM Entertainment artist, BoA, who previously solely held the most number one on Oricon chart with seven No.1.
TVXQ’s newest success on the chart comes after Tomorrow, which landed on the top spot of the daily album chart on the same day as its release, selling more than 89,000 copies.
Tomorrow is the first studio album of the duo in almost four years since they came out with their eighth studio album, With. It contains 13 tracks including eight new songs.
Additionally, Yunho and Changmin will begin their dome tour, titled Tomorrow, beginning September 26 in Saitama. A total of 32 concerts in 12 cities in Japan will comprise the tour, ending with concerts at the Tokyo Dome and Kyocera Dome.
Aside from holding the title of most No.1 on Oricon together with BoA, TVXQ also holds the title of having the most attended concert by a foreign act. Yunho and Changmin were also the first foreign artists to perform at the Nissan Stadium.
