WINNER’s Mino Faces Investigation Over Alleged Negligence During Military Service

WINNER’s Mino is under investigation for alleged negligence during his alternative military service, with police securing evidence from his former workplace.

Police have launched an investigation into WINNER member Mino following allegations of negligence during his alternative military service. On the 27th, the Seoul Mapo Police Station conducted a search and seizure at Mino’s former workplace, the Mapo Resident Welfare Facility, reportedly securing CCTV footage as part of their investigation.

This comes after the Military Manpower Administration filed a formal complaint on the 23rd, citing concerns over Mino’s alleged misconduct during his service. Police subsequently registered him as a suspect and are now assessing whether he violated the Military Service Act.

The Military Manpower Administration stated that if the investigation confirms irregularities, they may cancel Mino’s service completion status and require him to fulfill additional service to account for the disputed period.

Mino began his alternative service in March 2022 at the Mapo Facilities Management Corporation. He was reassigned to the Mapo Resident Welfare Facility in March 2023 and completed his service on the 23rd. However, allegations surfaced that he frequently took sick leave and annual leave, raising concerns about whether he fulfilled his duties adequately.

YG Entertainment, Mino’s agency, has refuted the allegations: “We cannot provide detailed information regarding his service. However, the sick leave was an extension of treatment he had been receiving before his service, and all other leave was used in accordance with regulations.”

As the investigation continues, Mino’s case has drawn significant public attention, with many awaiting further developments regarding his compliance with military service obligations.
