Following careful discussions, the duo’s agency announced that Ahn Ji Young will continue on her career as a soloist, still using the group’s name for her activities, with the recent decision of Woo Ji Yoon to depart.

The agency relayed the news to fans through the official statement below:

“Hello, this is Shofar Music.

First of all, we’d like to thank fans for supporting and loving Bolbbalgan4. We’d like to inform you of our official statement regarding a change in the lineup of our artist, Bolbbalgan4.

Ji Yoon expressed her intention to conclude her career as a Bolbbalgan4 member due to a personal concern about her future career, and we had discussed and thought about it carefully many times together. The members have been talking for a long time and understood each other’s thoughts, and our Shofar Music Company also respected Ji Yoon’s choice and reached the following conclusion.

BOL4 will work as Ji Young’s one-man team without the recruitment of new members, and after much consideration, Jiyoon decided to end her career as a part of BOL4.

Although it is regrettable that BOL4 will not be able to continue together, we made the decision with respect and support for their opinions. Ji Young and Ji Yoon will also wrap up their activities as groupmates, but they will remain as colleagues and friends who support each other’s path.

Bolbbalgan4 is currently working on an album that will be released sometime in May, so please give Ji Young a lot of support and encouragement to continue to continue her music.”

Despite appearing in Superstar K6 in 2014, the duo officially debuted in 2016 with “Fight Day” from the mini-album Red Ickle. They are best known for the songs “Galaxy” and “To My Youth” which garnered tons of attention and love from the general population, earning them perfect all-kills for their later releases including “Workaholic” in 2019.
