After holding a meeting earlier in the afternoon, CJ ENM, Swing Entertainment, and representatives of entertainment agencies Play M, Yuehua, TOP Media, OUI, MBK, Woollim, DSP Media, Starship, and BRANDNEW MUSIC who have their respective trainees in the member lineup of the newest project group which emerged from the Mnet debut reality program Produce X 101 had released their final and official position on the group’s career.

“The members of X1 and each of their agencies held negotiations to come through with a unanimous agreement. However, we have failed to do so and have decided instead on choosing disbandment,” the official statement from all the agencies relayed to fans.

Following this announcement from the group members’ agencies, CJ ENM commented that the company had worked to push for a resumption of activities for X1, as personally expressed by the CEO of CJ ENM himself during a press conference that the company held in December 2019 regarding the plans for the two Produce project groups whose promotions are currently affected by the issues hounding the show. However, they respect the position of the agencies who have ultimately decided to disband the group instead.

Despite their short run as a group, X1 was able to gather success with their debut mini-album Quantum Leap, which was released in August 2019. Marking an amazing feat, the group was able to record the highest group debut first-week album sales after amassing a whopping total of 524,007 album sales in the given time period.
