By  |

It’s confirmed. Treasure 13 will debut.

YG Entertainment’s Yang Hyun Suk personally confirmed earlier reports of the entertainment company’s plan to debut a 13-member boy group through its official blog, yg-life.com.

“I plan to debut the 13 selected members as a team of 13 with the name Treasure 13,” Yang wrote.

According to him, he initially planned to create a 13-member boy group. However, he was concerned that the parts and roles of each member will be significantly reduced, causing drawbacks and limitations.

With the new boy group, he intends to emphasize each member’s individual capabilities through group activities as Treasure 13 and as two separate teams.

As earlier announced, Haruto, Bang Ye Dam, So Jung Hwan, Kim Jun Kyu, Park Jeong Woo, Yoon Jae Hyuk, and Choi Hyun Suk will comprise the first team called Treasure.

Meanwhile, Ha Yoon Bin, Mashiho, Kim Do Young, Yoshinori, Park Ji Hoon, and Asahi will make up the second team called Magnum. Through the team’s name, Yang Hyun Suk shared his hope that the world will get intoxicated on the boy group’s music.

Open the Treasure: Debut Plans for YG’s Third Generation Boy Group

YG Entertainment eyes to debut Treasure 13 between May and July. Yang also laid out aggressive and consistent song releases from the new boy group and plans for separate activities from Treasure and Magnum.

Prior to the boys’ debut, a web-based show titled Open the Treasure Box will be launched. The show will document the debut preparation process of the members and their fun daily activities. It will broadcast on web-based platforms such as V Live and YouTube to make it more accessible to global fans. Various platforms such as TV broadcast will also be used.

However, the upcoming boy group will not participate in songwriting and composition of their songs, unlike BIGBANG, WINNER, and iKON. Instead, the boy group will use the entertainment company’s specialized production method. Producers from YGE, The Black Label, and YGX will join forces in the production.

According to Yang, although writing and composing their own songs are considered huge strengths for artists, the members get too busy with their schedules and lack ample time to produce good songs, causing longer hiatus.

“Please show love and support along with keen attention to the successful debut and growth of Treasure 13,” Yang Hyun Suk wrote as concluding remarks in his statement.
