YG Entertainment Releases Sustainable Performance Report

YG Entertainment is the first domestic entertainment company to publish a sustainable performance report and expand the planning and operation of performances that consider environmental and social values.

On March 27, YG Entertainment released a sustainable performance report on its official website containing the framework developed for sustainable performances, a checklist based on it, and major activities, achievements, and future plans.

According to the report, in September of last year, YG developed a total of seven frameworks consisting of greenhouse gas management, improvement of performance accessibility, fan engagement, enhancement of content influence, performance venue safety management, reduction of performance venue environmental pollution, and sustainable performance governance. This was applied throughout the entire Blackpink Seoul encore performance as well as some of the AKMU and Treasure performances.

In addition, a sustainable performance declaration containing YG’s vision was announced and it was launched in earnest according to the seven frameworks.

It includes calculation of greenhouse gas emissions for the first K-POP performance, placement of accessibility manager and production of video to guide performance venue accessibility, measures to prevent fraudulent ticket sales, crackdown on counterfeit products to protect intellectual property rights, management of potential safety risks at each stage of the performance, management of waste and water usage, etc.

YG plans to gradually expand sustainable performances starting with the publication of this report. The main goals this year are to develop work processes and establish a foundation, expand to some overseas performances by 2027, apply sustainable performances to all domestic and overseas performances by 2030, and spread the framework within the entertainment industry.

Meanwhile, YG plans to release content introducing safety guidelines for concert halls and the positive influence of sustainable performances in the future.
