K-Show Recap: Get On the Groove & Hype Your Mood To “Dancing High”
It’s just hard not to write about how amazing Dancing High is.
The latest entertainment show Dancing High (Teen) aired via KBS2 impressed with its first three episodes for neat editing and amusing blend of celebrity mentors and teen dancers.
The variety show qualifies the most talented dancers ages 13-19 in the country with the ultimate winner getting a chance for a dance scholarship abroad.
Celebrity mentors Lia Kim, WINNER’s Seunghoon, Highlight’s Gikwang, Hoya, and Just Jerk’s Young-J & J-Ho take charge in honing the skills of the selected teen dancers. Dance battles are expected to fill the episode runs of the program with live audience and guest judges’ participation in grading the prepared stage by the teams. Jung Hyung Don is in charge of the MC duties with a few celebrities cheering for its successful drive.
A melting pot of various type of dancers with specialties in modern dance techniques, Dancing High has so far let its followers bask on superb showcases. Encompassing different dance genres, the participants parade snappy quick cuts and defined big movements, which display the style and individuality of each contestant.
Surviving the rigorous audition to become the cream of the crop of over 3,000 applicants, five teams of seven members are formed to power up on dance missions given to them for interpretation each week.
Youngest contestant, Park Si Hyun (13) bested the big number of aspirants followed by dark horse Kim Min Hyung. Check out their performances on V Live.
The top 10 applicants would have the chance to choose the judge they prefer. Afterwhich, the remaining 25 are selected by the mentors to complete their groups.

Dancing High is looking to be a nice watch. The spontaneity easily attracts attention, even for audiences who do not particularly have interest in dancing, like me. More importantly, it has layered valid personal stories from the teen dancers for the expected drama notes to spice up the series.
