Dancing High Episode 4 Recap: Team Lia Kim Wins “Teenager” Battle Mission

Barely escaping Team Just Jerk by a point, Team Lia Kim emerged victorious in the first battle mission of Dancing High Teen.

On episode 4 of Dancing High Teen aired September 28, the intensity and drama notches higher for the five teams of teen dancers who are vying to win the challenge and keep their members intact.

Last week’s episode highlights spectacular performances from Teams Just Jerk, Hoya and Seunghoon. Continuing the remaining group stages, Teams Gikwang and Lia Kim slay the dance floor with energizing stages.

Team Gikwang renders enticing theatrics to Zico’s “Artist”, while avengers Team Lia Kim seasones H.O.T’s “Warrior’s Descendant” by depicting teenage bullying.

Combined with the onsite viewers’ votes and special judges’ ratings, Team Lia Kim eventually secured the top spot, followed by Teams Just Jerk, Seunghoon, Hoya and Gikwang placing from second to fifth respectively.

“Teenager” Ace Unit Stages Recap

To turn the table to their favor after the first round of competition, ace unit dance numbers will be added for the first scores to finally determine the losing group, which has to let go of two members sadly. Still following the concept “teenager” the subgroups are tasked to design freely the type of dance routine to showcase.

Team Just Jerk’s Girl Power

Youngest contestant Sihyun initially struggles to grasp the emotion of a classic song from iconic group Seo Taiji and the Boys as she has never felt wanting to run away from home.

Still, rising to the challenge, she successfully matches Min Jae and Min Jung’s charged movements, even adding amusing visual expressions.

Guest coach Twice’s Momo comments how the girls’ number burst with exciting energy – with J-Black applauding on how they express the rhythms of the fast-slow tempo.

Team Seunghoon’s Lively Stage

Screaming cute and vibrant with Super Mario brothers costumes, Dong Gyo and Chang Yi delight the audience with their sync movements coupled with playful cuts, which made Momo remarks how she kept smiling on their routine because of their bouncy dance.

J-Black is also pleased with the overall performance, citing it did not look childish at all and is a witty dance.

Team Hoya’s Polished Dance Duo Synergy

Worried about Team Hoya’s ace unit which has been busy with their schedules, NCT’s Jisung and Yoon Joon fire up sleek dance moves with extra difficulty and strength, earning united applause from the judges.

UNB’s Euijin and Feeldog are both fascinated with the performance. Chungha lauds how the stage felt like a real dance battle.

J-Black points out how the ace unit performances overwhelmed him with so much energy in general, and cites how Team Hoya’s duo perfectly capture the importance of knowing how to dance as dancers. They got a point more than the previous two teams at 96, earning them the top spot.

Team Gikwang’s Inventive Number

Seung Min and Sung Shik throw in some mean krumping and hip-hop moves, earning them the first 100 score from guest judge Feeldog.

J-Black highlights the superbly done tension presented by the boys. UNB’s Feeldog gives a standing ovation with the boys’ teamwork.

Even fellow teen dancers applaud the well-executed concept of Team Gikwang’s ace unit. The score also agreed with them, securing the 96 mark sharing the top spot with Team Hoya.

Team Lia Kim’s Dynamic Trio

Hip-hop, locking and B-boying are the main elements Min Hyuk, Ye Rim and Gyu Jin incorporated in their dance spectacle.

After getting the top score from the group performance, the talented trio flash bright movements to please the fans. But the keen eyes of the judges spot small lapses, as well as disconnected movement to their routine.

Team Lia Kim’s dropped at the bottom position of the ace unit performance at 93.

“Teenager” Dance Battle Ultimate Winner

Thrill and woes envelop the five competing groups as the aggregated scores comes in for the announcement of the winning team.

Pitted at the top spot are Teams Just Jerk and Lia Kim, with the latter ultimately succeeding the top position by a thread.

Team Seunghoon’s consistent group and ace unit stages landed them the middle mark of the ranking.

Teams Hoya and Gikwang are holding their breaths as the numbers rolled on the screen for the fourth and last positions.

Team Hoya collectively sigh getting the fourth spot as Team Gikwang emotionally meet in the back stage for the selection of two members who would be eliminated.

Somber emotions run in the team’s last pep talk as seven members. Teary-eyed, Gikwang sadly apologizes for what he lacks in leading the team which caused them to let go of two members.

In the end, Ha Jung and Yong Yeon, who both failed to attend some practice days because of personal matters, are selected by Gikwang to depart in order to help the team on its future performances.

It was a scintillating first battle for Dancing High Teens on KBS2. If it is just a warm up for more spectacular dance numbers in the future episodes, then we could not ask for more.

Next week, Dancing High takes the exciting theme of “Korean wave”, paving the way for yet another anticipated memorable dance matches prepared by the teen dancers.
