Director Baz Luhrmann Hints Possible Collaboration With BTS

By  |

BTS has worked with some big names in the music industry, but will they get to work with big names in the film industry as well?

At an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, director Baz Luhrmann talked about his upcoming projects for the year — including a possible collaboration with BTS.

The director talked about taking away borders between different kinds of art in relation to his upcoming projects.

“It’s remarkable the way K-pop has found a way — when you see BTS play Citi Field, that’s a stadium.” Luhrmann enthused.

He also expressed his admiration for BTS in relation to the influence that K-pop holds across different audiences, despite the fact not everyone is an expert in Korean culture and music.

Luhrmann does not explicitly say that he will be working with the group this year, as he prefers not to go into detail about future projects. His response to the query, a knowing smile and a playful shrug, said otherwise.

Another thing that hints at a possible collaboration with BTS was actually a tweet from Luhrmann himself. The tweet, posted on December 18 2018, talks about a later “catch up in Seoul.”

ARMYs have been speculating that this collaboration may involve the Bangtan Universe, a storyline that has been the subject of an ongoing LINE webtoon and a soon-to-be published book. Given Luhrmann’s past work in the film industry, it is easy to understand why everyone is so excited to see this collaboration happen.
