Kim Soo Hyun On Pro-Bowling Tryout: “I Think I Could Do Better But I Don’t Regret Participating In The Tryout”
No regrets for Kim Soo Hyun!
South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun talked about bowling, and his attempt in a professional bowling tryout during an interview with W Korea.
“I have a tendency to get absorbed intensively when I get into something,” said the 29-year-old actor. “It was bowling last year,” he added, recounting how his passion for the sport began. According to him, it all started as a simple attraction that turned into a test of limit.
“I just liked playing bowling, and then I started to wonder what would be the limit of this fun,” Kim said. He then started frequenting bowling alleys that ended up in the annual professional bowling tryout last year.
The actor successfully passed the first tryout tournament with 214.6 average points. However, the second round of the preliminaries saw Kim short of the needed minimum 200 points with only 192.3 points. The Korea Professional Bowling Association considered giving him special pro qualifications but he declined.
For the actor, experiencing the tryout was enough. “I think I could do better but I don’t regret participating in the tryout,” he said, adding that he was not after the result. “I would not have tried if I had worried about ‘what if I fail’ or ‘what if I become a pro-bowler’.”
Despite Kim’s failure to make the cut in the professional bowling tryout, he continues to show his fondness for the sport. In an episode of popular variety show Infinite Challenge, he displayed his skills in bowling through a competition with the members. He also successfully passed the members’ human tunnel challenge with a strike.
Kim is currently busy with the promotions of his newest action-noir film Real, which will premiere on June 28.
