“Road To Kingdom” Recap: Episode 5’s First Goodbye And Interesting Team-ups

By  |

The Road to Kingdom is a journey with ups and downs, and the ache that we felt in its most recent episode proved so.

The dreaded day has come for Road to Kingdom as it wrapped up its second round on episode five with a heartbreaking elimination among the seven talented and hardworking groups in its roster.

After another fierce round of performances, the survival show has arrived to the part of the competition which has the viewers set for heartbreak. Marking the first elimination from the show, the round had Golden Child taking their final bow gracefully after ranking last in the combination of the first and second round scores for the seven groups.

This is despite the majestic and artistic stages they’ve prepared for the “Song of King” and “My Song” rounds, which included a flawless cover of Shinhwa’s “T.O.P” and an orchestra-inspired performance of their hit “WANNABE”. Their goodbye to the show will bring one less high-quality performance to look forward to every week, which saddens us indeed.

An Interesting New Round

Meanwhile, exciting series of performances are slated to unfold next once again on Road to Kingdom. For its new round, the remaining six groups will showcase a total of two performances each. One of which is a collaboration stage with another group, while the other is a cover stage of any artist of their choice.

For the collaboration stage, the show’s hosts Lee Da Hee and Jang Sung Kyu picked out the groups working with each other through a random draw. Through this, it was decided that the team-ups would be VERIVERY and TOO, PENTAGON and ONF, and The Boyz and ONEUS.

The next round then began with a collaboration stage between VERIVERY and TOO, who brought on a fierce performance of BTS’ “ON”. Prior to this, the two groups were shown warming up to each other during their meeting, and enduring intense rehearsals led by VERIVERY’s Dongheon as well.

Meanwhile, the preview for episode six also provided a hint of the massive stages prepared by the remaining groups for their collaboration performance and individual showcases.
