NewJeans Decorates Japan’s “Summer Sonic 2023”

The craze for NewJeans is also hot in Japan!

NewJeans took the main stage of Summer Sonic 2023 held at Jojo Marine Stadium in Tokyo, Japan on the 19th.

They have not made their official debut in Japan yet, but they are rapidly expanding their popularity in the country to the extent that they are invited to Summer Sonic.

Fans’ interest in NewJeans’ first concert in Japan was explosive. On this day, the New Jeans performance was held at 12:00 noon, a rather early time, but about 30,000 spectators gathered at Jojo Marine Stadium to see them. The organizers restricted the entry of spectators for safety reasons.

NewJeans opened the stage with the band arrangement version of the mega-hit songs “Ditto” and “OMG”

“It’s our first time performing at Summer Sonic, so we’re really excited. We prepared hard, so let’s have a good time together today and make unforgettable memories,” the group greeted.

Thereafter, they performed their debut songs “Cookie”, “Attention” and “Hype boy” live in succession heightening the atmosphere of the festival.

Then, the stage parade of the 2nd mini album Get Up was held. Starting with the album’s track 1, “New Jeans”, the Super Shy flash mob performance with 19 dancers raised the engagement of the audience.

It is then followed by “ETA” and “Cool With You”. The colorful music and performances leading to “Get Up” and “ASAP” caused energetic raves from the audience. They waved light sticks and cheering placards for each song.

NewJeans, who poured out a total of 11 live songs and performances for about 40 minutes, said in Japanese, “Thanks to all of you, I was able to enjoy every stage. We were really happy that you enjoyed it with us until the end. See you again here next time.”
