Seventeen’s Wonwoo Apologizes For Past Anti-SNSD Posts
Wonwoo issued an official apology about his past controversial remarks on SNSD.
Seventeen’s Wonwoo was recently embroiled in a controversy when his past anti-SNSD postings during his elementary school days went viral. He personally addressed the issue by posting a handwritten apology letter in the group’s fancafe.
Seventeen’s label, Pledis Entertainment, revealed that Wonwoo wanted to apologize by himself instead of through the agency.
Below is a translation of Wonwoo’s full letter:
Hello, I am Wonwoo.
Firstly, to those who got hurt because of this matter, I would like to apologize.
Rather than calling it a mistake at a young age or something I don’t remember as excuses, I decided that I should apologize, admit my mistake, and accept any punishment. Which is why I am uploading this.
Although it was written during my childhood days, it was still written by me. To SNSD sunbaenims, SNSD fans and Carats who got hurt by it, I am so sorry. I am also sorry to the members who have worked hard together to be Seventeen.
Thinking back, it was really childish of me. I thought lightly about the stars who appeared on TV and I didn’t think such words would hurt anyone. To become part of Seventeen, I started my trainee life when I was a middle school student. This was when I got to know about the pressure experienced by a person who has to perform on stage.
I got to know how many people it takes for one person to perform on stage. Promoting as Seventeen, I got to know what kind of feelings the person would feel when they are on stage and what it means to be on that stage. I can sincerely feel how great SNSD sunbaenims’ spot is and I respect them.
Receiving immense love from the fans, it made me realize how much responsibility I have to take for this matter and how one’s comment can affect an entire person’s mind. Thus, the more I should reflect on my mistake.
I wouldn’t dare ask for forgiveness, but I would definitely reflect endlessly and want to apologize to SNSD sunbaenims. Even when I look back at the posts which I uploaded without much thought, I know it is wrong and able to hurt anyone. I am so sorry that I can’t bear to lift my head.
I will try my best not to disappoint anyone anymore. I will read and remember the criticisms and advices towards my childish behavior. I hope that everyone can teach me more in the future.
I will apologize once again. Sorry.
