ASTRO’s Moonbin Passes Away

K-Pop star Moonbin has passed away at the age of 25.

The K-Pop community has lost a shining star today.

According to the police, at around 8:10 pm KST on April 19, the manager found Moonbin dead at his home in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and reported it to the police. Investigations regarding the matter and the exact cause of death are currently ongoing.

Fantagio, Moonbin’s agency confirmed the sad news on the morning of April 20.

“Although it cannot be compared to the grief of the bereaved families who lost their beloved son and brother, the Astro members who have been with us for a long time, as well as our Fantagio fellow artists and executives, are deeply mourning and in great sadness and shock.

Our hearts hurts, even more, to deliver this sudden news to the fans who have supported Moonbin and sent generous love.

We earnestly ask you to refrain from speculative and malicious reports so that the bereaved family who is deeply saddened by the sudden sad news can reverently commemorate the deceased.”

Moonbin debuted as a child actor in 2009 in the K-Drama, Boys Over Flowers, where he played the younger version of Kim Bum’s character.

In 2016, he debuted as part of Fantagio’s six-member boy group ASTRO.  Moonbin, who was also active alongside his fellow ASTRO member Sanha in the unit MOONBIN&SANHA, was scheduled to appear at Dream Concert.

According to the wishes of the bereaved family, the funeral will be held as quietly as possible with family, friends and company colleagues in attendance.
