EXO’s Lay To Make His US Debut With A Solo Album
After blessing South Korea and China with his music, Lay of EXO is set to give the United States a taste of his sound next!
Lay of South Korean boy group EXO will make his debut in the US with the release of his solo album set to be out next month.
SM Entertainment confirmed that the singer-songwriter will enter the US market through his solo album, Namanana, which will be released on October 19.
The singer-songwriter will treat fans with 11 new songs in Chinese and their English versions, totaling to 22 songs. SM Entertainment also revealed that the EXO member participated in the composition and arrangement of all the songs in the album.
Moreover, Lay tapped the help of singer-songwriter Bazzi, composition team Rice n’ Peas, and 153 Joombas Music Group to hype the production level of Namanana.
Through the album, SM Entertainment hopes to trigger the growth of Mandarin pop or Mandopop on a global scale.
The singer-songwriter also launched the website, www.yxuniverse.com.
Last month, the singer-songwriter joined record producer and DJ Alan Walker at the Lollapalooza, marking his first solo appearance in the US. He also released the re-lift version of “Sheep”, his collaboration with Walker.
Additionally, he was confirmed to participate in a tribute project for Michael Jackson’s 60th birthday along with fellow SM artist, NCT 127.
Aside from his activities with EXO, Lay has also successfully made a name for himself as a singer and actor in China and South Korea.
His debut extended play, Lose Control, released in 2016, topped China’s YinYueTai V Chart and South Korea’s Gaon Weekly Album Chart. The EP was also named Album of the Year by Tencent Video Star Award.
In 2017, he came out with his first studio album, LAY 02 SHEEP, which once again took the number one spot in YinYueTai V Chart. It also ranked tenth on Gaon Music Chart and fourth on Billboard’s World Album Chart.
Other than music, the EXO member also successfully ventured into acting with his most recent film, The Island, which topped China’s box office.
