Dork is MONSTA X’s middle name.

Korean boy group MONSTA X gets into role-playing in the newest episode of JTBC2’s ‘MONSTA X-RAY’.

Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Wonho, I.M, and Jooheon visited Mangol Village in the city of Yangju, where they were tasked to make kimchi using 70 cabbages. The members were then asked to play roles and experienced being daughters-in-law of the head family.

Through picking of lots, the members were assigned a role to portray. Shownu was the luckiest in the bunch, with the role of mother-in-law given to him. Minhyuk took on the role as the mean sister-in-law to the daughters-in-law.

Kihyun, Hyungwon, and I.M played the second daughter-in-law, first daughter-in-law and foreign daughter-in-law respectively. Wonho, on the one hand, portrayed the family’s dolsoe or servant. Jooheon gave audience a hearty laugh with his reaction on the role assigned to him, which is the family’s dog.

The members showed off situations typical of relationships between in-laws. Daughters-in-law Kihyun and Hyungwon took turns, impressing mother-in-law Shownu through a short popping performance. I.M opted to show off his rap skills.

Shownu’s real life mother also made an appearance through a phone call. The leader of MONSTA X inquired to his mother for the procedure to make kimchi. With the ingredients and procedure known, the members set off in groups to acquire some ingredients for the task.

However, ingredients were not given to the members for free. The daughters-in-law helped out in a restaurant by washing dishes and cleaning up tables. Jooheon the dog and Wonho the servant cleaned up stables, while Minhyuk and Shownu bonded with the elderly in a senior center.

MONSTA X-Ray premiered on January 12. The show is set to reveal the members’ charms “down to the bones”.
