GFriend Rewards Filipino Buddies With Spring, Summer, Autumn & Winter In Manila

Met with a thunderous welcome from the red carpet event to the concert venue, GFriend defied expectations and gave us one of the best girl group concerts we have ever seen.

GFriend members, Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, and Umji, visited Manila for their first concert, Season of GFRIEND in Manila. Before they performed for fans, they stopped by Novotel Manila in Quezon City, Philippines for a red carpet event.

The girls, donning military-themed outfits, looked overjoyed and delighted to see a great number of Buddies who were there to welcome them. Fans were treated to casual talks with the girls such as their interest in collaborating with Filipino artist, Moira Dela Torre, for an acoustic version of one of their songs.

Yerin cutely conversed in the local language to engage the fans, while Eunha drew chuckles from the crowd with her adorable plan to open her own hamburger shop if she will be given a chance for a different venture. Umji shared some Korean summer vacation tipsm which involves eating cold noodles and suggestion to listen to GFriend songs to beat the summer heat.

Season 1: “GLASS”

The fans, eagerly waiting for a spectacular night, got their money and effort’s worth as soon as the spotlight focused on GFriend, who blasted fiery opening performances!

Filled to the rafters of cheering fans, GFriend dropped the first two songs, “Fingertip” and “NAVILLERA” as part of the concept of Season I: “GLASS”, based on the chilly winter weather.

The idols welcomed their fans, told them they missed them and expressed disappointment as they were supposed to meet the Filipino Buddies the week before.

In return, they rewarded fans’ anticipation with more powerful performances as they slayed their tracks “Crush” and “Ave Maria” to wrap up the electrifying first part of the concert.

Season II: “FLOWER”

More beautiful than flowers, GFriend changed to refreshing blue and silver girly outfits as they serenaded Buddies with “Mermaid” and an acoustic version of “Summer Rain”. The girls caused the theater to sweetly cool down as they summoned a refreshing mood with “Hear the Wind Sing” and “Gone with the Wind”, belting out high notes effortlessly.

In between songs, they asked each other how they deal with the hot temperature of summer. SinB responded how she turns the air con on to full blast, then covers herself with a blanket. To cap off their spring stage, they ended the second season with “Rain in the Springtime”.

Amazing in group performance, GFriend further highlighted their talents on their solo stages. SinB kicked off a refreshing take on BoA’s “No. 1”, while Sowon hyped up the crowd with Sunmi’s “Gashina”.

Umji showed her youthful glow as she covered IU’s “Twenty three”. Then Eunha heated up the stage with a sizzling performance of Gain’s “Bloom”. Proving that her voice is no joke, Yuju covered Ailee’s “Heaven”, followed by Yerin who ended the solo stages with a bang through an energetic cover of Hyori’s “U Go Girl”.

Season III: “AWAKE”

Getting the vibe of romantic autumn, GFriend showed their love to the fans who kept the spirited vibe all throughout the night. The members performed their iconic songs: “Glass Bead”, “Me Gustas Tu” and “Rough”.

They chatted with the fans during the break as they each explained their feelings about each other’s solo stages. SinB and Sowon were surprised that the fans sang along with their individual performances, fueling them more to perform for them.

A rare stage that challenged Umji and Eunha to show their sultry and aegyo looks also delighted the audience. Yuju praised the fans as good singers with Yerin, making a Buddy version of her song’s highlight where she picks up the phone. The audience rated all stages a perfect 100% as the girl’s wrapped up the third season with a stunning showcase of “Time for the Moon Night” and “Rainbow”.

Season IV: “PARALLEL”

Welcoming the final but joyful season of summer, Season IV: “PARALLEL” was all about the GFriend’s love for their fans!

The girls came out in colorful outfits to perform “Compass”, “Fall in Love” and “LOL”. They provided fans an opportunity to have a photo session where they gave different poses to cheer up their Buddies.

Among those concepts were the sultry pose, the different heart pose, and the cute pose. We swear we caught some oppas experiencing 10-second heart attack inside the theater when the girls threw in a series of aegyo highlighting the different charming sides of GFriend.

Keeping up the high energy level inside the venue, the girls continued with their latest title track, “Sunny Summer” and “One Half”. After that, they talked about upcoming projects and future plans. Umji melted the attendees when she mentioned how she already fulfilled hers, because she wanted to visit the Philippines and spend time with Buddies.

Sowon told the crowd that she would like to be a strong leader, and pushes more projects to meet more Buddies overseas. Eunha reassured everyone that she will show a very hardworking Eunha in the future, and maybe, she’ll have her own hamburger shop as well.

SinB expressed wanting to show different sides of her, with Yerin revealing plans of getting various licenses this year. Yuju promised to work on becoming even more skillful as a singer.

Approaching the end of the concert, they said their utmost gratitude to the fans, wanting the audience to stay healthy and happy, and vowing that they will meet again soon. They closed the concert proper with a video presentation about their love for the fans before their encore stage.

They sang “My Buddy” as a tribute to all Buddies presented. The girls were grateful for the special video gift prepared by GFriend Philippines. They expressed the beautiful impression they got from Philippine Buddies, and thanked them for giving them motivation.

The girls, who want their relationship with Buddies last long, emotionally serenaded fans, who swayed their light sticks along with the girls’ sweet melody of “Falling Asleep Again”.

It was an amazing night where the synergy of the talented GFriend and their followers evidently showed. The next time these girls visit your town, make sure to check out their performance because you would definitely be gifted with a superb concert stage.
