EVENT RECAP: ENHYPEN’s Enthralling “Fun Meet” In Manila

ENHYPEN’s first visit to the Philippines became an enthralling encounter for both the members themselves and their fans.

Well-loved K-pop boy group ENHYPEN has recently graced the Philippine stage, where they captivated Filipino ENGENEs with their variety of charms.

Making December lovelier, the seven-member group greeted fans through their Fun Meet at the Araneta Coliseum on December 3, 2022. Promoted by Wilbros Live, the event was held in celebration of BYS Cosmetics Philippines’ 10th anniversary.

Energizing starter

To kick off the event, Filipino artists hyped up the audience first with their performances. VXON, a five-member group, presented an energizing number. Talented female group G22 followed shortly, captivating the crowd with their charisma. Next up was the total performer Darren Espanto, who took over the stage as he belted out high notes and showed his powerful dance moves.

Connecting with ENHYPEN

Heading on to the main part of the event, BYS Cosmetic Philippines’ newly-announced brand ambassadors, Jungwon, Heeseung, Jake, Jay, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Ni-Ki, finally appeared on stage, receiving thunderous cheers from fans.

The septet gamely participated in the question-and-answer portion, where they shared their thoughts about coming to Manila, and their career so far, among many other things.

“It’s our first time to be here in the Philippines as a group. I’m so happy to meet our Filipino ENGENEs. We hope to come back here often,” Sunoo said.

Jake explained the meaning behind their group name, saying that en dash and hyphen are used to represent the connection between the seven of them while discovering each other and growing together.

Sharing his love for music, Heeseung revealed that while his favorite genre is K-pop, he also listens a lot to other kinds of music.

If given a chance to go on a trip to a deserted island, Jay chose to bring two of his favorites — corn and Jungwon.

Despite only being in the K-pop industry for two years, the group has already raked in various awards and continues to mark their name as one of the most sought-after artists today. Asked if he expected this level of success, leader Jungwon responded, “Yes, we kind of expected these achievements. But we didn’t expect to receive this amount of love. We hope to continue receiving your support in the future.”

Ni-Ki then shared how excited they are to finally visit their fans around the world. “Luckily the pandemic is improving and we’re happy to be given the opportunity to meet our fans and go on a world tour now,” he said.

Amid the pandemic, Sunghoon aims to inspire fans, saying, “Live your life to the fullest. Figure Skating has led me to become part of ENHYPEN. I hope you also do your best always.”

Fun segments and surprise gifts

Making the event more memorable to their fans, ENHYPEN interacted with the crowd through various segments, including “ENHY-PENS” (they revealed their favorite things), “ENHY-PICK” (they shared their preferences among two options), “EN-HIGH-PEN” (they reminisced their time together by watching short clips), “EN-HIGH-PLAY” (they played charades with lucky fans), and “EN-HIGH-PINOY” (they learned Filipino phrases from selected attendees). Much to the crowd’s delight, the members also sang a bit of their hit track “Polaroid Love.”

To show their love and appreciation for their favorite group, the Filipino ENGENEs prepared surprise gifts. They played a fan video project and raised a special banner with a sweet message: “Our hearts beat together between the gaps of the universe.” Moreover, the crowd sang “Happy Birthday” to Sunghoon and Ni-Ki, who will be celebrating their special days on December 8 and 9, respectively.

Highly-anticipated performance

Like icing on a cake, ENHYPEN perfectly capped off the night by treating the audience with a mesmerizing performance of “ParadoXXX Invasion.”

Amazed by the energy of the crowd, the septet promised to meet their Filipino supporters again in the future. Jay said, “You guys are awesome, Manila! Mahal Kita.” Jake added, “We received good energy tonight and we really look forward to the concert. See you guys then.”

Meanwhile, the talented boy group will return to the Philippines early next year. They will hold a back-to-back Manifesto concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on February 4 and 5, 2023.
