EXO’s Chen: “I Don’t Need Gifts, Fans’ Love Is Enough”

Extravagant gifts for idols’ anniversaries and birthdays are a common sight to behold, but one idol in particular feels that his fans’ love is more than enough. On July 19, EXO’s Chen announced that he will no longer be receiving gifts from fans.

In the post uploaded online, the singer expressed his gratefulness towards EXO-L’s support, especially during anniversaries and birthdays. However, he shares that although he received fans’ gifts well, he felt sorry for the gifts he could not use. He explains that:

I wished to show that I have been using your gifts well, but it is not as easy as it seems. I was worried that if I did not use a fan’s gift, it may cause a misunderstanding that I did not like their gift.

Hence, Chen made the decision to stop accepting gifts from EXO-Ls. He also wrote that he is able to feel fans’ love through their cheers when he performs onstage. The vocalist ended his notice cutely, reassuring fans to “please don’t be sad about this and be good fans in the future”.

Chen’s fellow EXO member, Lay, has expressed that he will only accept fan letters instead of gifts as well.  One can truly see the sincere love and care these idols have for their fans!
