Song Hye Kyo Picks “The Glory” As Her Biggest Challenge Yet As An Actress

Popular South Korean actress Song Hye Kyo has recently decorated the cover of ELLE Korea.
On January 26, the fashion magazine released the photos and interview featuring Song Hye Kyo. Recently, Netflix’s The Glory, in which Song Hye Kyo appeared, is gaining immense popularity. Heightening the excitement for the release of “The Glory Part 2” in March, Song Hye Kyo gamely revealed her thoughts during the interview.
All about The Glory
The drama narrates a story of a former victim of school violence. The victim, Moon Dong Eun, played by Song Hye Kyo, swears revenge on her bullies after becoming the teacher of her bully’s child. In particular, the actress considers her latest character her biggest challenge yet in her career.
“Dong Eun had many three-dimensional situations in which she expressed her emotions. I was excited to express the emotions that I had never portrayed before. That will come out more in Part 2,” she said.
During the drama, she showed her body full of scars to show her pain to Joo Yeo Jeong (played by Lee Do Hyun). In response to the question of whether a substitute was considered for the scene where the body was exposed, the actress said, “The writer said that it would be nice if I filmed the scene directly. This is a scene that visually shows what Moon Dong Eun is and why she does it this way, so I think I would have been embarrassed all the time if I had used a substitute. I also had a strange confidence. I lost weight, not because I want my body to look pretty, but because I needed it.”
She continued, “I wanted Dong Eun to look exhausted for the scene, so I lost a lot of weight. I thought it would be more pleasurable when the perpetrators were beaten by a small person who would think, ‘What’s so scary about a kid like that?’ When filming the revealing scene, I adjusted my diet more.”
In addition, the actress expressed how satisfied she is with her latest drama project. “I felt so happy lying down in my room after I finished filming the difficult scenes. The Glory Part 2 has more to unfold. It will be more entertaining.”
