South Korean artist, DAWN, just released “Dear My Light” and it easily reminds you of finding solace with someone.

Named by Rolling Stone as one of The 25 Most Stylish Musicians of 2023, “Dear My Light” is DAWN’s first release after signing with AT AREA earlier this year.

DAWN conveys pouring out efforts into his latest music that interestingly takes a different route from what he usually does.

“I think many people will be amused when they first listen to this song, because it’s different from the music I’ve released in the past. It’s an acoustic song, and I focused on my vocals rather than my performance. I put a lot of effort into the lyrics to send the message I wanted to tell, so I recommend everyone to listen closely to the lyrics.

Co-written by DAWN, alongside GroovyRoom, Kwaca, Hwang Yoo Bin, and HA:TFELT; “Dear My Light” sings about a beautiful time that was shared between two people. We can relate to each other with emotions that bind us, and DAWN invites this level of intimacy in his music.

Known for being both a Rapper and Singer; DAWN sings over an acoustic guitar, showcasing his innate ability to craft deeply personal narratives into heartfelt lyrics.

He sings; “Even if our shining memories disappear, I’m fine. You know you were my everything, I was happy enough to forget myself. It’s okay if I lose everything, as long as I can see you dazzling.” As delivered in the lyrics, “Dear My Light” expresses longing gratitude towards someone who shed their light onto a dark self.

GroovyRoom says, “Needless to say, DAWN is a fashion icon and well-known for his visuals. However, it feels like most people only see the outer part of DAWN. He is a musically talented artist with a wonderful voice, and we look forward to presenting the music we are building to the world.”

DAWN (formerly known as E’Dawn) has lived many lives as an artist in South Korea, ultimately making him the creative that he is today.

Debuting in the K-Pop group Pentagon in 2016 under Cube Entertainment; DAWN’s journey with the group included 9 EPs, multiple Billboard charting singles, a world tour, and much more. He contributed to the group’s debut EP as a songwriter, and continued to write songs and compose throughout the years.

DAWN’s fans rallied behind him during his departure from Pentagon in 2018, and only a few months later “Gangnam Style” hitmaker PSY announced that he had signed a contract with his new label, P Nation.

Later that year, he re-debuted as a soloist under the name DAWN with a new single “Money,” which debuted on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales Chart. DAWN released multiple singles, an EP, and a duet EP under P Nation from 2019-2022; with Hypebae referring to him as an “industry favorite.”

On August 29, 2022, P Nation announced that DAWN would be leaving the company after deciding not to renew his contract, which led him to where he is today. Throughout all of these label transitions, DAWN has always stayed true to himself as an artist and is now starting a new chapter with GroovyRoom’s label, AT AREA.

On top of his artistic pursuits, over the years DAWN has been known for his unique and sometimes androgynous style, with Rolling Stone stating “Korean rappers have some of the best style going, and Dawn is leading the movement.”

As part of the first Korean celebrity couple to shoot a Calvin Klein campaign; he’s been featured in and graced many covers in Korea such as Dazed, Harper’s BAZAAR, Esquire, W Magazine, Allure and Rolling Stone. Most recently, DAWN attended multiple shows at Paris Fashion Week (Off-White, Rick Owens, Valentino, etc.) and collaborated with a few U.S. publications such as Rolling Stone, GQ, Hypebae.
