MONSTA X’s Kihyun Announces Upcoming Military Enlistment

Say it isn’t so! MONSTA X’s Kihyun enlists later this month.

On the afternoon of August 1, Kihyun personally announced his upcoming enlistment by uploading a handwritten letter to MONSTA X’s fan cafe.

His official statement, translated into English, is as follows:

MONBEBE! It’s Kihyun! Are you having a good day?

I thought a lot about how to continue writing, but I think MONBEBE will already know even if I just say it like this, so I won’t add this and that!

I will be enlisting on August 22.

Even though MONBEBE will worry first despite anticipating [the news] because I already mentioned it numerous times, I feel rather relieved because I feel like I’m doing homework that I’ve pushed off.

I’m just grateful that there are so many people who support me haha.

I will work hard to make precious time through various ways before I go.

In addition to me, the members will be away for a while, but you can’t go anywhere. I’m not kidding—I’m serious.

Eat well! Stay healthy! Stay strong! Keep doing well, and I’ll be right back.

Kihyun will be the fourth member of MONSTA X to participate in compulsory military service, following Shownu who was discharged in April 2023, as well as Minhyuk who enlisted on April 4 and Joohoney who enlisted on July 24. Kihyun is expected to be discharged in early 2025.
