RM, Jin, J-Hope, Suga, Jimin, V, and Jungkook of BTS are your next generation of leaders!

American weekly news magazine Time has named South Korean boy group BTS as the “next generation leaders” in its latest cover, and honored the achievements of the boy group in its article, titled “How BTS is taking over the world“.

The magazine shed light on the global success of the boy group, who is making history for K-Pop in its every venture and win. Most recently, RM, Jin, J-Hope, Suga, Jimin, V, and Jungkook earned the first American Music Awards win for a K-Pop group when they took home the Favorite Social Artist award.

“It’s a real honor. We’re proud that everything we do is giving off light,” said J-Hope.

“Those from my parents’ or my grandparents’ generation, even more so than those from our generation, are very proud of us. They love seeing us on the news. And so, for me, it’s enjoyable to see my father proud of the things like that,” said Suga.

Aside from winning recognitions in international award-giving bodies and making headlines for sold-out shows worldwide and best-selling albums, BTS is also raising awareness on social issues that have also become themes of the boy group’s songs – even before its global success.

“We started to tell the stories that people wanted to hear and were ready to hear — stories that other people could not or would not tell. We said what other people were feeling like pain, anxieties and worries,” said Suga.

During the 73rd UN General Assembly, leader RM delivered an inspiring speech, encouraging people to “love yourself” and “speak yourself”.

“Tell me your story. I wanna hear your voice, I wanna hear your conviction. No matter who you are or where you’re from, your skin color, your gender identity, just speak yourself. Find your name and find your voice by speaking yourself,” he said.
