Jang Dong Yoon Ushers The Launch Of South Korea’s 1st Augmented Reality Magazine

Decorating the cover of South Korea’s high-concept magazine is rising actor Jang Dong Yoon!

NewBIN AR is a digital pop-up book that introduces augmented reality (AR) technology. It shows a 3D virtual image as a single image overlaid with a 2D reality image.

Significantly, it is the first attempt not only in Korea, but also in the world. The visual work breaks down the boundary between analog and digital platforms. Also, it provides amusement to a new magazine format that cannot be seen anywhere else.

In the pictorial, Jang digested variety of concepts. It ranges from the cool boy-next-door beauty to dapper-looking male muse. The two-dimensional image of the photo has been developed in a form that allows the screen to pop out in three dimensions.

Accordingly, when viewing photos on mobile phone, the photos and videos would be in three dimensions through the special technology unique to NewBIN AR.

In the accompanying interview, Jang honestly shared the momentum and process of turning from a 25-year-old ordinary college student to becoming an actor.

Acknowledging he was at first impatient of the progress of his career, his anxiety eventually ceased as he learned the ropes of being an actor.

He further admits that he is a film buff. He said, “I really liked movies since I was a child. And I want to write a scenario of a human drama that is warm, bright and fun in the future.”

NewBIN AR also praised the young actor, “Jang Dong Yoon showed active aspects such as fully understanding the production process. He also suggested various ideas to make the shooting more lively and fun.”

Expressing confidence, the magazine also goals to lead a revolutionary era with a unique magazine that utilizes high-end digital transformation.

Jang’s Transformation for New Drama

Matching the progressive mindset of the AR magazine, Jang Dong Yoon continues his streak to deepen his range as an actor. After his well-received stint in KBS historical romance drama, Tale of Nokdu, he heads to a promising project through OCN’s dramatic cinema project, Search.

For his new series, the actor suits up to the role of Yong Dong Jin, the handler of military dog named Mac Arthur. His new characters is part of a “core search team” tasked to unearth the mystery behind the disappearance and murder in an isolated area in Korea’s DMZ.
