Nam Joo Hyuk Talks About The Changes After “The Light In Your Eyes”

Model turned actor Nam Joo Hyuk is on the rise.

Sitting for an interview, Nam talked candidly about his career. As one may recall, he started modeling in 2013, and in 2014 he joined the TVN drama Surplus Princess. A year later, he rose to popularity in Who Are You: School 2015 with Kim So Hyun and Yook Sung Jae. From then on, he appeared regularly in other dramas like Cheese in the Trap on TVN and the massive popular hit Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo in 2016. But Nam hooked the hearts of fans through the cult favorite Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo.

Most importantly, Nam received the biggest change in his career through the movie The Great Battle. Because of this film, Nam received several awards for his superb acting. Nam acknowledged the responsibility of getting awards. He realizes that he now has to work harder after winning so many awards.

Nam admits that many people congratulated him after he won. He still felt embarrassed by the attention so he hid in the corner. However, he is grateful for the experience and the chance to work with other excellent actors.

In 2019, Nam took on the role of Lee Joon Ha in The Light in Your Eyes. His character is an aspiring reporter who couldn’t catch a lucky break. Nam acted alongside Kim Hye Ja and Han Ji Min. In the latter half of the drama, it was revealed that Kim Hye Ja suffered from Alzheimer’s. Nam’s character in the recent time reminded Hye Ja of her deceased husband. It was a story of sweet but heartbreaking romance.

Nam received a lot of praise for his role in The Light in Your Eyes. Because of the varying explosions of emotions from Nam, once again he rose to popularity with the viewers. Nam said that he often received compliments of his improvement in acting. On the one hand, his heart became heavy because of the story line. He did not treat the role lightly, but rather he did his best and worked hard.

When asked if there was anything special about his acting, Nam answered that he just tried to work hard. Although not all characters can be done well, but this time he tried to work hard. He also went to work with a smile. Additionally, Nam sympathized with his fellow actors because he knows about all the hard and tiring work involved in performing well.

Additionally, his performance in the previous episode was admirable. He was tortured in the drama and beaten up. Nam and his friends responded to the comments and they thought that young people in their 20s would respond the way he did. He praised the writers for the effective dialogue that brought out empathy in him.

Nam’s work in The Light in Your Eyes  showed how much he has evolved as an actor. Though he is anxious, he is working hard to reach his dreams. His seniors inspire him to work harder because he knows how much they love him. Nam also explained that he now chooses his roles more carefully after The Great Battle.

The Light in Your Eyes is on jTBC and it will end on March 19, 2019. His next drama will be the Netflix original drama Nurse Teacher An Eun Young with Jung Yoo Mi.
