WEVERSE Expands Global Presence with the Addition of International Artist AKB48

Global fandom lifestyle platform Weverse announced the addition of Japan’s AKB48 today, and in celebration of their joining, the group will be the first artist to unveil Weverse DM.

Since their debut in 2005, AKB48 has been a social phenomenon, capturing the hearts of passionate fans worldwide. They are among the highest-earning musical acts in Japan and are the fifth-best-selling girl group worldwide. ABK48 has also been active in many entertainment areas, including music and acting.

The first 16 members of AKB48 who have been selected for the title song of the 61st single ‘Doushite mo Kimi ga Sukida’ (どうしても君が好きだ)’ will be the first to join the Weverse community, while the other members will follow over time. The album is scheduled to be released on April 26.

Hitomi Honda, one of the members of AKB48 joining the Weverse community, expressed her excitement stating, “I’m thrilled and excited to interact more closely with our worldwide fans through Weverse.”

Weverse DM will start its service on May 2 in conjunction with AKB48’s official community opening on April 27.

Weverse will host a hashtag event from April 28 to May 2, celebrating the launch of the AKB48 community and Weverse DM.

Fans can leave a welcome message on AKB48’s Weverse community with the hashtag #WELCOME_AKB48 to receive autographs. Winners will be announced on AKB48’s community on May 12.

In addition, users who purchase Weverse DM service between May 2 to June 1, can receive up to 18 additional subscription days.
