X1 And IZ*ONE To Sit Out The 2019 MAMA Ceremony

2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards will not see performances from both groups.

X1 and IZ*ONE will not be appearing in the ceremony as confirmed in a press statement released on November 26.

The news came after the previous announcement of the first artist lineup which included IZ*ONE, while fans awaited confirmation for X1’s participation.

Here is Mnet’s official statement:

“Hello this is Mnet.

This notice is in regard to the lineup of performing artists in the 2019 MAMA on December 4.

IZ*ONE will not appear at 2019 MAMA. We apologize to the fans who are eagerly awaiting IZ*ONE’s stage performance.

As we have received many inquiries, X1 will also not appear at 2019 MAMA.

We sincerely apologize for any distress caused by our program.”

X1 and IZ*ONE are products of the Produce series, Mnet’s popular audition-survival program. IZ*ONE was formed from Produce 48, the third season of the show while X1 is from the most recent season, Produce X 101. With the controversy surrounding the series and PD Ahn Joon Young, both groups have suffered setbacks to their activities.

2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards is happening on December 4 in Nagoya, Japan.
