While hiding in a storage room, Hye Ja finds out that Joon Ha has been fooling the elderly people. He pretends to be able to get in touch with their children but secretly keeps their money. Disappointed, she tries to convince him to quit. Otherwise, she will reveal the truth to the other elderly folks about what Joon Ha is doing.

On hearing that, Joon Ha dares her to do so. Due to his actions, the elderly folks have more hope and happiness thinking that their children are getting in touch with them through Joon Ha.

Later on in the udon shop, Hye Ja tells Hoon Ha that “Hye Ja” misses him. Because of him, she had fun and she didn’t want to leave. Surprisingly, Joon Ha recalls his memories with the younger Hye Ja.

Joon Ha tells the elderly Hye Ja that all he did was to bump into her a few times in the neighborhood and had udon with her. He is heartless as he says whether she returns to Korea or not is none of his business. Lastly, he asks that they don’t get curious about Joon Ha anymore. He tells the elderly Hye Ja that he no longer wants to see her.

Episode 5 Afterthoughts

Hye Ja spends more time with people of her age. Since her inner self is just 25 years old, she easily gets bored spending time with them. On the negative side, her body also feels exactly what they are feeling. In addition to that, Hye Ja feels burdened because she is not able to help her parents financially.

Although her friends don’t intend to be mean, Hye Ja feels offended when they make fun of elderly people. This is great because this drama serves as an eye opener to young people.

We don’t realize that getting old can be hard in daily life. Specifically, the aches and pains which their body go through can be also bothersome. Because of this, we should learn to be more patient and respectful to the elderly people at all times.

Furthermore, Hye Ja herself is going through a difficult time with all the changes going on in her body. Moreover, she feels frustrated because there are other things that she wants to do, but now she can’t.

Hye Ja feels disappointed in the changes she is seeing in Joon Ha. She sees him move further away from his dream of being a reporter. Not only that, he has been scamming elderly people which disappoints her even further.

As an actor, Nam Joo Hyuk’s acting in this drama is a far cry from his previous roles. He portrays Joon Ha as slightly dark, manipulative and sullen. Joon Ha comes from a troubled past and only lives to survive. Nam’s acting is convincing as the slick and charming entertainer.

The Light in Your Eyes is entertaining but it’s also a revelation for the viewers. It makes us realize that we need to take care of our bodies. Furthermore, we should make sure that we don’t waste time, hence not to have any regret in life.

The Light in Your Eyes airs every Monday and Tuesday on jTBC. It is also available on Viu.
