SEVENTEEN’s DK Talks About Preparations For Musical Debut With “Xcalibur”
It might have been destiny for SEVENTEEN’s DK to make his musical debut with Xcalibur, but he is surely not taking this opportunity for granted.
After showing off a completely different side of him in the musical’s teaser posters, SEVENTEEN’s DK amplified the excitement for his debut with Xcalibur as he talked about his preparations for the musical.
With his background currently solely on singing as one of the vocalists of hit boy group SEVENTEEN, the venture to the world of musicals is entirely new to DK. In fact, he seemed like an entirely different person as he traded his usual eye smiles and bubbly personality for a stern fighter look on his debut musical’s individual character posters.
“It’s my first musical and I’m excited to be with the world-class staff and my great seniors,” the singer stated. He is cast alongside veterans in the musical stage like Kim Jun Su and actor Kai in the role of Arthur, the stage play’s very own lead character.
Among the three, DK is the youngest and thus, he is expected to give his character a different, more youthful vibe compared to the others. A portrayal of Arthur’s pure charm and extraordinary spirit is also highly anticipated from DK, who has always dreamt of challenging himself with a role in a musical.
“I liked many musicals, and I was deeply impressed by the energy that musical actors showed on stage and the expressions they portrayed when performing songs,” the SEVENTEEN member shared. “It’s not an easy challenge, but it’s a great honor to be able to grab an opportunity as good as Xcalibur,” he also confessed.
In preparation for the role, he revealed that he has been taking vocal lessons concentrated on musical performances diligently for the past year.
“Just like how Arthur was destined to take the famous sword, I think it was also fated for me to meet this masterpiece Xcalibur,” the singer said.
“I’ll prepare really hard and show an impressive stage for everyone,” he also promised.
