BTS’ Suga Is The Best Idol Producer, According To Survey

Suga of BTS wins with overwhelming number of votes against his fellow idol producers!

Idols have stepped up their game and ventured into writing and producing their own songs. Most K-Pop acts have actively participated in the completion of their albums, stage performances, and more — a testament that idols are more than the pretty face that they are thought to be.

In a recent survey conducted by Mnet’s live streaming website, Mwave, fans voted for their top pick of the best idol producer among six K-Pop acts. BIGBANG’s G-Dragon, Highlight’s Yong Jun Hyung, SEVENTEEN’s Woozi, iKON’s B.I, Block B’s Zico, and BTS’ Suga competed for the top spot which would be decided by fans through online voting.

With the end of the week-long survey on August 18, the rapper of BTS emerged as the best idol producer. He garnered an overwhelming 131,021 votes or 71.4 percent of the total 183,497 votes.

Suga has shared his skills and talents in songwriting through his participation in his group’s albums. He has written and produced tracks for the group since the debut single album, 2 Cool 4 Skool. Most recently, he collaborated with RM and J-Hope for the song, “Daeng”.

Aside from BTS, Suga also impressed with his mixtapes, particularly his 2016 release, Agust D. He also composed the song, “Wine”, for singer-songwriter Suran.

Following Suga, SEVENTEEN’s Woozi came second with 26,091 votes or 14.2 percent. The vocal team leader of the group is well-known for being the chief producer of his group’s albums including the July release, You Make My Day. Woozi also produced I.O.I’s final release, “Downpour”.

iKON’s leader B.I placed third in the poll, garnering 17,624 votes or 9.6 percent. B.I, who is also a recognized rapper and producer, takes the lead in the group’s album production.

The recent release of the boy group, New Kids: Continue, featured songs written and produced by him. He also contributed in the music of other YG artists including BLACKPINK, Psy, Winner, and Epik High.

BIGBANG’s G-Dragon came fourth in the survey. He received 5,607 votes or 3.1 percent of the total count. Dubbed as a genius artist, the leader of BIGBANG has more than 170 songs listed under his name. He has been writing and composing songs for the group since 2006. More than the quantity, a lot of his credited songs have been well-received.

Highlight’s Yong Jun Hyung came next with 1,985 votes or 1.1 percent. Also the chief producer and lyricist of his group, the rapper of Highlight has demonstrated his producing skills through his works for BEAST and Highlight, solo releases, as well as other artists like HyunA, VICTON, Heize, among others.

Block B’s Zico placed sixth on the list with 1,169 votes or 0.6 percent. A renowned rapper and songwriter, Zico has written and composed songs for Block B and other K-Pop acts, as well. He is notable for maintaining his underground reputation as a rapper and successfully cultivating a career as an idol.
