BTS Bags Three Guinness World Records For “Boy With Luv”

BTS continues to etch their names in history as they add three Guinness World Records to their long list of achievements.

BTS can officially add “breaking world records” to their long list of accolades as they bag THREE titles from the Guinness World Records! Their “Boy With Luv” music video is officially the most viewed music video by a Korean act, most viewed music video overall, AND the most viewed video on YouTube.

RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook have successfully beat out a myriad of Korean and Western artists for these titles! Read on to find out more about this phenomenal accomplishment:

Most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a K-pop group

BTS garnered a whopping 74.6 million views for “Boy With Luv” on April 12 to 13! The group beat out BLACKPINK’s “Kill This Love”, which garnered 56.7 million views from April 4 to 5.

Previous record-holders include BLACKPINK’s “DDU-DU DDU-DU”, which garnered 36.2 views within 24 hours. PSY’s “Gentleman”, which garnered 36 million views within 24 hours. BTS even beat out the records they set with Fake Love (which garnered 36 million views), and IDOL (which garnered 45.9 million views).

Most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours

On a much larger scale, BTS beat out big Western names for this Guinness World Records title. Previous record-holders include Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do”, which earned 43.2 million views within 24 hours. The group also beat out Ariana Grande’s smash hit “thank u, next”, which garnered 55.4 million views within 24 hours. Consequently, the group earned the title for Most Viewed YouTube video in 24 hours.

Prior to this achievement, the boys swept international music charts. All seven tracks reigned over the U.S. iTunes Top Songs chart, with the lead track “Boy With Luv” featuring Halsey nabbing the top spot. Korean music charts also reflected the same situation, where the songs occupied the top spots of the six major sites Soribada, Genie, Naver, Bugs, Mnet, and Flo with Map of the Soul: Persona.

The Oricon Charts recently reported that Map of the Soul: Persona has topped their Digital Weekly Album Charts. The album topped the chart after its first week of sales, garnering 7,859 downloads. This is the second BTS album to top this chart, after Love Yourself: Her topped the charts in September 2018.

Additionally, BTS claimed their spot in the annual “100 Most Influential People of 2019” list by Time Magazine. The group appeared alongside notable personalities in the entertainment industry, such as Regina King, actors Rami Malek and Brie Larson, and singer Ariana Grande
