Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung Named Ambassador For 20th Withbom Film Festival
Sooyoung’s latest appointment allows her to continue her efforts towards helping people with disabilities.
Girls Generation’s Sooyoung has consistently used her influence as a singer and an actress for the benefit of others. She has supported people with disabilities by donating to organizations for their benefit and starring in movies that portrayed their struggles. Today, she continues her work with her appointment as the public relations ambassador the 20th Withbom Film Festival.
On October 28, the team behind the Withbom Film Festival announced that they have selected Sooyoung to be this year’s ambassador for the event. She will be following the footsteps of artists like Go Kyung Pyo, Ra Mi Ran, Han Ji Min, Jin Se Yeon, On Joo Wan, and Chun Woo Hee.
Withbom Film Festival cited Sooyoung’s influence and achievements as an established actress and member of Girls’ Generation in bestowing her the honourable task. The group’s main deciding factor, however, was her efforts with helping people with disabilities: her work as the ambassador of the People’s Disability Awareness Improvement Campaign, and her donations.
On the appointment, Sooyoung expressed her gratitude for the appointment. “I promise to do my best to promote this festival, and fulfill my duties as a promotional ambassador for the Withbom Film Festival,” the singer-actress stated.
Meanwhile, the Withbom Film Festival focuses on making films more accessible to all kinds of audiences, providing subtitles and descriptive text for the viewers. It is the largest film festival for disabled people and hopes to raise awareness for them. For this year, the festival is scheduled to be celebrated from November 8 to 11.
