Congratulations, NCT DoJaeJung, on this feat!

The UK music magazine NME announced the Top 50 Songs of 2023 on its official website on December 4th (local time), and NCT DoJaeJung ranked 45th, making them the only male K-pop artist featured.

The Top 50 Songs of 202,3 includes global musicians such as The Beatles, Lana Del Rey, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Troye Sivan, Dua Lipa, Ryan Gosling, and others. Among this lineup, NCT DoJaeJung stands as the sole male K-pop artist, showcasing his global influence once again.

NME statement about “Perfume”:

K-pop’s NCT collective might be more readily associated with an experimental, all-but-the-kitchen-sink sound but, on “Perfume” sub-unit NCT DoJaeJung went down a far smoother route. Composed of three of the group’s strongest singers, Doyoung, Jaehyun and Jungwoo, the trio shared a tale of pure devotion over electro-tinged R&B grooves. “Putting the traces / Leaving ‘em on your wrist / On your collar / Gonna let ‘em hover,” they cooed of their love, echoing the song’s lingering power.

NCT DoJaeJung made their unit debut in April 2023 with the first mini-album Perfume, securing various charts, including K-pop unit first place in sales, domestic album and music charts, and music show wins. Moreover, he was previously selected in NME’s Top 15 Best K-pop Songs of 2023 released in June.
