Is EXO’s Lay Zhang’s New Instagram Post A Hint For A New Release?

Will we get a sweet new content from Lay Zhang soon?

The supposedly quiet morning of EXO-L was disrupted by a seemingly harmless photo of a bee and honeycomb posted by EXO’s Lay Zhang on his Instagram at around 3 a.m. KST of May 1, causing fans to wonder — “Are we getting a new release from Yixing?”

The answer remains unknown at the moment as the singer-songwriter did not drop any other hint aside from his caption of a pair of eyes and a bee.

Still, it did not stop his fans from speculating the meaning behind the photo update, which they believe is related to a new music. They recounted previous posts by Lay Zhang which could possibly shed more light on the photo.

In an Instagram story posted by the singer-actor on February 23, he revealed a new song, by the name of “Honey”, is coming soon. He also tagged American DJ and music producer Paul Blair, more known as DJ White Shadow.

A Twitter user by the username @layshands even theorized that the EXO member might drop something on May 20 based on the photo. According to the user, May 20 is considered World Bee Day and a special day in China for celebration of love. In addition, the number form of the date —520 — means “I love you” in Chinese.

Earlier this year, Lay Zhang dropped his collaboration with Jason Derulo and NCT 127, titled “Let’s Shut Up and Dance” as part of the Michael Jackson tribute project. He also teamed up with Far East Movement for the song “Lovebird”.

In addition, he headlined the Chinese drama The Golden Eyes. He also returned as mentor and host of the second season of Idol Producer, which concluded in April with the nine winners debuting as Unine.

Other than his new music, fans can look forward to the EXO member as Zhu Qizhen, Emperor Yingzong of Ming in Empress of the Ming. He will also come back as cast member of Go Fighting! for the fifth season of the program.
