New Boy Groups From “YG Treasure Box” To Possibly Debut As 13-Member Team

Will YG Entertainment bring together the two debuting boy groups from YG Treasure Box?

Reports from South Korean news sites suggest that YG Entertainment will sway away from the initial plan to debut two separate boy groups, and instead, put together the 13 successful trainees from YG Treasure Box to compose one team.

In an article from Sports Seoul, a number of sources reveal that the entertainment company is considering to bring together the two groups and form a boy group to be called “Treasure J”.

According to the sources, YGE may promote the two groups separately and also as one team, meaning they will collectively be known as “Treasure J”, promote as a 13-member boy group and as teams of six and seven as well.

A source said that YG Entertainment had difficulty finding positive synergy following the debuts of WINNER and iKON, who both came from the survival reality show WIN: Who is Next? around the same time.

The entertainment company is leaning towards the idea of a large-scale group to minimize the errors of launching two groups around the same time and to build a fan base for the new artists as soon as possible.

YG Entertainment’s New Boy Group Members

On January 25, YGE confirmed Haruto, Bang Ye Dam, So Jung Hwan, Kim Jun Kyu, Park Jeong Woo, Yoon Jae Hyuk, and Choi Hyun Suk as founding members of Treasure.

A few days later, Yang Hyun Suk announced his plan to debut another boy group from YG Treasure Box. On February 4, the full lineup was unveiled, which include Ha Yoon Bin, Mashiho, Kim Do Young, Yoshinori, Park Ji Hoon, and Asahi.
