Kim Nam Gil, Lee Da Hee, Cha Eun Woo & Sung Joon Confirm To Star in Fantasy Drama “Island”

The upcoming series finalized its main cast and will start filming next month.

Island is the series adaptation of the Naver webtoon of the same name. It portrays the curious and somber journey of individuals fated to deal and fight against supernatural evil forces.

Versatile actor Kim Nam Gil leads the ensemble cast who is known for his wide range of acting abilities on both the big and small screens. His previous works include the 2019 hit series The Fiery Priest and Live Up to Your Name as well as films The Closet, The Shameless and Memoir of a Murder, among others. In Island, Kim Nam Gil plays Ban, a man raised and trained as the world’s protector.

He does not associate with humans. But with his destiny of defending humanity, he agonizes over the significance of what he has to protect, while sacrificing himself in doing it. There is growing anticipation on how Kim Nam Gil will show the character’s complicated emotions.

Playing the role of a third-generation chaebol and teacher Won Mi Ho is Lee Da Hee. She goes to Jeju Island to self-reflect, unaware of what awaits her on the island. Lee Da Hee astounds with her portrayal of various characters. She starred in dramas L.U.C.A.: The Beginning, Search: WWW and The Beauty Inside. Viewers can look forward to her chemistry with Kim Nam Gil.

Suiting up for the role of John is ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo. He will give life to another complex and intriguing character who is Catholic Exorcist Priest. John has a gruesome and troubled past. Despite his history, his noble vocation is to protect life and purify the world of evils. John is a person with a gruesome and troubled past. Cha Eun Woo has made an impression with lead roles in the series True Beauty, Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung, and My ID is Gangnam Beauty.

Completing the main lineup is Sung Joon playing the role of Gungtan who was raised alongside Ban as a warrior to slay evils. However, Gungtan starts to be in conflict with Ban after a critical event. Their falling out raises the tension and gives a compelling twist to the drama’s narrative. Sung Joon starred in dramas High Society and In Need of Romance 3. He gave memorable performances in movies Grotesque Mansion and The Villainess.

With an all-star cast boasting of solid acting skills and an extraordinary story, Island will recreate and give new twists to Jeju Island’s urban legends. Taking on the directing duties is Director Bae Jong who worked in Welcome to Dongmakgol and Fabricated City. The webcomic’s author, Yoon In Wan joins as one of the producers, adding more authenticity and raising the drama’s quality.

Island will commence filming in October and eyes its broadcast in the first half of 2022.
