EXO’s Lay Zhang Launches His Official YouTube Channel

EXO’s Lay Zhang opens his official YouTube channel to the public on June 13 — a launch he commemorated with the release of the teaser for “Honey” on the video-sharing and streaming platform.

The singer-songwriter garnered more than 157,000 subscribers in less than 24 hours since he announced the opening of his channel via the Twitter account of his studio. He also gained over 250,000 views for the teaser video — the sole upload on his channel at the moment.

The number of subscribers and views on the channel continue to increase as of press time. Previously, the EXO member’s solo releases were uploaded on SMTOWN”s official YouTube channel. As the teaser of “Honey” was released on the channel, the full music video is also expected to be unveiled through Lay Zhang’s channel at 4 p.m. KST of June 14.

Sweetening June 14 with Addictive Songs from Honey

Meanwhile, Lay Zhang dropped his newest album Honey at 1 a.m. KST of June 14 on global music sites such as Spotify and iTunes. The album features four self-composed tracks namely the English and Chinese versions of “Honey”, “Amusement Park”, and “Bad”.

Using the hashtag #LayNewEPHoney, fans on Twitter relayed their support for the singer-songwriter and their reactions to the songs. Moreover, they also expressed excitement for the release of the music video of “Honey”.

Honey comes after eight months since NAMANANA, Lay Zhang’s third album, came out. It also serves as his first solo release following his Christmas single “When It’s Christmas”. Although it took months before he released his newest album, the singer-songwriter has been busy with his collaborations in the past months. He worked with Jason Derulo and NCT 127 for “Let’s Shut Up And Dance” earlier this year. He then featured on Far East Movement’s “Lovebird”.

Prior to its release, Honey broke and created records after more than 1.87 million copies have been pre-ordered in only three minutes since pre-ordering started on June 11. It became the fastest album to reach the Gold Diamond status on QQ Music, breaking the previous record of his NAMANANA album.

In addition to his music success, Lay Zhang also took the honor of Best Male Supporting Actor at the 25th Huading Awards held at the Broadway Theatre in Macau on June 12.
